The Brabus B63S Comes to Geneva with the CLS 63 AMG Coupe and Shooting Brake

Bigger turbos and Gold Heat Reflection.

Let’s be honest here, the Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG is nothing short of sex on wheels and its big-butt sibling, the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake is perfect for those that like a little bit more junk in their trunk. But Brabus has a way to make these stunning siblings even more attractive and it involves using real gold. The new Brabus B63S engine upgrade is coming to Geneva wrapped in the sleek four/five-door coupe styling of the CLS 63 AMG Coupe and Shooting Brake models with all sorts of custom-tailored goodies to make these two AMGs the top models in the segment.

The 5.5-liter M157 biturbo engine used in the new CLS 63 AMG models has already been given the Brabus tunes in the past, but the B63S upgrade takes things to a new level of performance. The new upgrade is more than your average high-performance engine tune as well. Of course there’s the new water-to-air intercooler system, stainless steel exhaust system with adjustable butterfly valves with two sound modes, free-flow catalytic converters and 75 mm downpipes with ceramic-coated tailpipes, and the standard engine tune that makes things a bit more interesting, but then there’s the real fun stuff. Both of the factory turbochargers were replaced with larger units that generate greater amounts of boost pressure and an overwhelming wall of power. Then there’s the part that you can brag about to all of your super car friends (unless they have a McLaren F1). The Brabus B63S upgrade comes with a Gold Heat Reflection system for the intakes and charge-air tubes that help keep the charge-air temperatures to a minimum.

Brabus B63S

The gold-trimmed Brabus B63S engine upgrade for the CLS 63 AMG Coupe and Shooting Brake ups power all the way up to 730 horsepower (720 bhp) at 5,300 RPM and a thunderous amount of torque that’s been electronically-limited to 758 lb-ft. from 1,750 to 5,000 RPM. All of that power is sent through the AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC and the new Brabus multi-disc limited slip rear differential with a 40-percent locking rate, launching the Coupe and Shooting Brake models to 62 mph in just 3.8 seconds and to 124 mph in a mere 10.8 seconds. Top speed for the CLS 63 AMG is pushed all the way back to 217 mph (350 km/h) while the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake is electronically-limited to 186 mph (300 km/h) to prevent the rear tires from shredding at speeds past 200 mph.

With the new CLS 63 AMG models capable of such high speeds, a few things had to be done to prevent them from lifting off into space with their gold-foiled engines. So, Brabus went to the wind tunnel where they developed a new carbon fiber front spoiler that attaches to the underside of the bumper and helps to generate enough downforce to keep the front axle planted at high speeds. Other new components in carbon fiber such as the new fender attachments with backlit Brabus logos can be given a gloss or matte finish.

Finishing things off in the styling and performance departments are the new Brabus Monoblock R Platinum Edition wheels with a unique two-plane five double-spoke design. The forged wheels feature the outer set of the five spokes in a diamond-polished and sealed with a matte clear coat, while the inner five spokes wear a matte grey color to create a dynamic three-dimensional appearance. Brabus fitted the Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG Coupe and Shooting Brake models in a 9.0J x 20 front and 10.5J x 20 rear setup with either Pirelli, Continental, or YOKOHAMA tires in 255/30 ZR 20 and 295/25 ZR 20 sizes.

Brabus offers customers a wealth of custom-tailored luxury upgrades that would only be expected in a car that has gold on its engine. The company’s upholstery shop can create a special interior with perforated Mastik leather and alcantara along with a range of carbon fiber or wood grain trim in any color or finish throughout the dashboard and center console. Aluminum foot pedals, door lock pins, and shift paddles help create a sportier atmosphere, while the optional custom-tailored BRABUS multimedia concept – and optional Apple iPad integration can make the CLS AMG models the ultimate in business performance.

Brabus will be bringing the Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG Coupe and CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake with the B63S engine upgrades to the 83rd Geneva International Auto Show. The Brabus B63S will come standard with the company’s Tuning Warranty for three-years/100,000 km (62,000 miles).
