Swedish blondes have nothing on this black beauty.
When you think of a Volvo, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? The brick that your parents drove and gave you as your first car? The square safety-box that just wouldn’t die and killed your social status? Those days are long gone. The new S60 bears a new modern “racetrack” design with lines that flow around the entire vehicle, and makes the outgoing model look old, dull, and dated. The new generation is also aiming to provide a more sport-oriented driving experience, something that has Swedish die-hards begging for a new R-model. Until that time comes, Volvo will be introducing a limited run of HEICO SPORTIV designed S60 T6 models with more power, performance, and presence.
The exclusive S60 T6 receives a number of exterior enhancements that give it a unique and athletic identity. Dressed in a special metallic sapphire black, the S60 wears a HEICO SPORTIV body kit, new wheels, and a more enthusiastic suspension that ties it all together. At the front, the new spoiler is designed to fit over the stock bumper and is made of durable polyurethane plastic (PU-R-RIM). The rear is finished with a new skirt that forms a diffuser and houses the new exhaust system. To match the stunning black paint, HEICO SPORTIV used their 8 x 19 VOLUTION X light alloy wheels. The ten spoke sport wheels wear a black matte finish, highlighted by contrasting polished rim flanges. For added performance, new Pirelli 245/35 R19 tires are fitted. To complete the muscular appearance, new sport springs lower the S60 by 30 mm, while a HEICO SPORTIV badge is added to the trunk.
Under the hood of the S60 T6 Design by HEICO SPORTIV is a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine that adds to the Swede’s sport-oriented driving dynamics. To boost power (literally) HEICO SPORTIV used their e.motion technology (efficiency in motion) to reprogram the ECU and bring power output to 330 bhp and a gob of 339 lb-ft. of torque available from just 2,100 to 4,200 RPM. Also installed is a stainless steel exhaust system with quad end pipes that fits perfectly into the rear skirt and provides a powerful note. Packed with a six-speed automatic transmission and permanent all-wheel drive, the S60 with T6 tuning can shoot to 62 mph in just 5.8 seconds.
The minimalist interior design found in the new S60 receives some sporty styling cues from HEICO SPORTIV to compliment the increased power and distinct exterior style. A new leather and aluminum shift knob sports a HEICO SPORTIV logo, while a special edition plaque is proudly displayed on the dashboard. The driver’s feet are also greeted with a motorsport feel from the aluminum pedals and foot rest. Topping off the package is a special custom-made pouch with a liter of Castrol high-performance engine oil.
The Volvo S60 T6 Design by HEICO SPORTIV will be available through Volvo Germany starting September of 2010. Only 100 models will be produced, all in metallic sapphire black for € 63,968 (incl. 19% VAT). For those outside of Germany that would like to upgrade their S60, HEICO SPORTIV also offers a host of individual accessories.
