Get ready for the new Lexus RC Coupe

Bringing some emotion to the lineup.

Toyota has been often criticized for its lack of passion and sport throughout its model lineup. Even Lexus, its premium brand, has been knocked for being bland and boring. That all began to change with the introduction of the Lexus LFA and new, emotional styling that has found its way into new models such as the IS, GS, and even ES. Even their last concept, the LF-LC Concept, rode the wave of passion and emotion that had begun to roll into the luxury brand.

At the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show Lexus will be unveiling its new RC Coupe models that take the next step in terms of sport and design for the brand with the goal of bringing in new buyers. The new Lexus RC 350 Coupe and RC 300h hybrid Coupe will be shown on November 20th as they help expand the lineup with some new excitement.

The new Lexus RC Coupe borrows a great deal of styling from the LF-LC Concept. Designers gave the new model the most deeply contoured lines possible and styled the front fascia with the lowest and widest Lexus spindle grille yet. Other visible cues from the LF-LC Concept are clearly visible such as the three-light headlights that feature an L-shaped pattern when the low beams are activated. Even the taillights bear the L-shaped theme, pointing to the brand’s styling motif. Powerful and aggressive shapes and lines dominate the exterior, and are covered in a shimmering paint that is applied using multiple layers for a rich, deep color. Two different wheels will be shown on the first Lexus RC Coupes: a 19-inch, 10-spoke with sculpted spokes or an 18-inch, five-spoke set. Both sets boast an elegant black finish with platinum center caps.

The emotion and passion infused by designers into the exterior is used throughout the interior. The four-passenger Lexus RC Coupe utilizes a wide range of contrasting materials and colors along with a Lexus-first lighting package that reflects upwards instead of downwards. High contrast colors including the new Clove tone with genuine shimamoku layered wood adds some spice to the cabin. The cockpit is divided into two operational and display zones, with an upper zone housing the instrument panel and 7.0-inch navigation screen. Beneath the displays sits a layered center console that features the new Remote Touch Interface. Each of the leather-trimmed seats boast a new integrated foaming construction method that’s similar to racing seats to offer better support and bolstering for spirited driving.

The Lexus RC 350 will make its debut with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine while the RC 300h will sport a 2.5-liter hybrid drivetrain for greener motoring. Official pricing, availability, and specifications have not been released by Lexus.
