Take a Ride in the Audi R18 TDI – Video

Testing the LMP1 that won Le Mans.

At the 2011 24 Hours of Le Mans, Audi overcame two horrific crashes and managed to take the overall win. At the end of 2010, Audi unveiled their newest prototype, the Audi R18 TDI race car, as the successor to the R15 TDI. The new diesel powered race car features a new 3.7-liter mid-mounted, turbodiesel V-6 engine, six-speed gearbox, and a number of aerodynamic and chassis upgrades. It’s also one of the few closed-cockpit LMP1 race cars from Audi.

The #2 Audi R18 TDI that won the 2011 24 Hours of Le Mans was recently tested with an onboard camera to show what it’s like to drive the new closed-cockpit Audi race car. Of course, it’s not luxury car, and features all of the uncomfortable harshness of true racer.
