MINIs have always held a special place in the automotive world with their diminutive size, peppy attitude, and dynamic chassis. They’re not for everyone but their drivers are extremely loyal. The team at Krumm-Performance has been working with MINI models for years and this new John Cooper Works (JCW) is anything but Krummy!
Enough with the bad puns. The Krumm-Performance MINI JCW isn’t peppy, it’s downright powerful thanks to the Stage III upgrade kit. The turbocharged inline-four cylinder engine was given a new Hybrid Turbo setup that includes a newly optimized compressor gap, larger turbine, CNC-finished termination assemblies, and new bearings to produce greater amounts of boost pressure. A new racing intercooler keeps things cool and regulated under high-stress situations. Krumm-Performance also added on a Pipercross air filter element, high-performance spark plugs, new heat shields, and an Akrapovic downpipe with 100-cell catalytic conveter. A full and complete software tune helps maintain reliability and everyday drivability while boosting performance considerably.
In total, the Krumm-Performance MINI JCW makes a whopping 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft. of torque. All that is sent to the front wheels through the gearbox equipped with a new Drexler LSD and Sachs racing clutch with single-mass flywheel.
And that’s only part of the equation. Krumm-Performance tacked on a new set of KW Clubsport two-way adjustable coilovers with the in-hour Northloop setup and Powerflex bushings all around. Farther out sit new AP Racing four-piston calipers that weigh in at just 5.7 lbs. each and clench down on 330 x 32 mm floating wave brake discs with PFC 01 brake pads and utilize stainless steel flex lines. Hiding those are new one-piece ATS-GTR wheels measuring 8.0 x 17 at both axles with 215/45 R17 Dunlop Direzza 03G tires.
Elsewhere, the MINI JCW was equipped with supportive Recaro SPG XL seats with Schroth Profi 3FE six-point harnesses, a CAE-Ultra shifter, and OMP Ultraleggero steering wheel, and Wiechers Clubsport rollover bar. The entire exterior was then wrapped by Chamshaft Premium Car Wrapping.
