The Audi RS6 Avant and RS7 Performance Break into Super Car Territory

Audi RS7 Performance

More power, please!

The Audi RS6 Avant and RS7 were two cars that are capable of achieving crazy performance figures thanks to their thundering 4.0 TFSI engines, quattro all-wheel drive, and integrated technology. The new Audi RS6 Avant Performance and RS7 Performance models are even better thanks to more power, some visual enhanceents, and hardcore goodies.

The star of the show in the two new high-performance variants is the 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8 engine. Audi’s engineers drew upon their vast knowledge of making things go fast and tuned the engine with a new management system coupled with more boost pressure and a higher RPM range. In total, the new 4.0 TFSI produces 605 horsepower and 516 lb-ft. of torque with a temporary overboost function that increases torque 553 lb-ft.

Thanks to the increase in power and an eight-speed tiptronic gearbox that’s been re-tuned, the Audi RS6 Avant and RS7 Performance models can reach 62 mph from rest in 3.7 seconds – 0.2 seconds faster than the standard models. Reaching 124 mph takes only 12.1 seconds, which represents a 1.4-second improvement over the base models. The 155 mph limited top speed can also be pushed back to 174- and 189.5 mph as part of the optional dynamic packages.

Hitting the pavement are standard 21-inch cast aluminum alloys wearing 285/30/21 tires on the RS6 Avant Performance and 275/30/21 on the RS7 Performance. Behind those wheels sit internally-vented brake discs with wave design rotors, while carbon fiber ceramic discs are available as an option. The standard RS adaptive air suspension sits 20 mm lower with the Performance variants or customers can opt for the RS sport suspension plus.

The two new Performance models both distinguish themselves form the standard RS6 Avant and RS7 models through some subtle exterior enhancements. New bumpers with larger intakes draw in more air while larger rear diffusers keep the cars planted at high speeds. Flared fenders make for a more aggressive confidence and pair up nicely with the dominating gloss black honeycomb front grille.

Inside, leather and alcantara is the name of the game. The Audi RS6 Avant Performance and RS7 Performance feature standard RS sport seats with larger side bolters. The optional RS performance design package tacks on black and blue alcantara and leather upholstery with a honeycomb pattern that matches the floor mats, arm rests, and controls. New black instrument faces with white dials and red needles add a more performance-oriented touch for drivers.

The new Audi RS6 Avant Performance and Audi RS7 Performance models will be available starting in November.
