Audi Celebrates 500,000 with the TTS Competition Models

Audi TTS Competition Roadster

That’s a lot of TTs.

In 1998 Audi unveiled its TT Coupe and it quickly became a sales success, followed by its Roadster counterpart a year later. Audi enthusiasts regard the original TT as a classic due to its unique design and that unique figure continued into its second generation in 2006/07. Now, Audi is celebrating the 500,000-car milestone with the sports car with new TTS Competition models that will be limited to just 500 units – one for every thousand TT models sold.

The new Audi TTS Competition will be available in Coupe and Roadster variants with a number of exclusive features. Only two paint colors will be available: Imola Yellow and Nimbus Grey, which are not available to standard TT models. The TTS Competition Roadster can also be had with either a Black or Grey convertible top, giving customers the ability to create some interesting color combinations. Another aspect that sets these two TTS models apart from the lineup is their fixed rear wing that sports special fixture bars in a matte aluminum-look. Finally, a set of 19-inch, five-spoke “Rotor” wheels are worn at the front and back with 225/35 tires.

Audi TTS Competition Coupe

Beneath the hood of the Audi TTS Competition Coupe and Roadster is the tried-and-true 2.0 TFSI engine. The 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four doesn’t get a boost in power over the standard TTS models but still spits out an exciting 272 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque to all four wheels thanks to Quattro. Performance is impressive as the Coupe can make the 0-62 mph sprint in either 5.3- or 5.5 seconds with the six-speed S-Tronic or manual transmission, respectively. Its TTS Competition Roadster counterpart can make the same sprint in 5.5- or 5.7 seconds with the S-Tronic or manual transmission, respectively as well. Both models are electronically limited to a 155 mph top speed.

Audi TTS Competition Interior

Inside, Audi had a few more exclusive tricks up its sleeve. The TTS Competition Coupe and Roadster are both outfitted with a special Impulse leather package in steel grey with cut edges and stitching sporting an Imola Yellow color. Each door trim features an aluminum panel showing off a “1 of 500” badge, advertising its rarity. Drivers benefit from a more sharply contoured sports steering wheel and rear parking system along with a large array of standard equipment.

Only 500 Audi TTS Competition models will be produced and be available in October of 2013. The limited edition variant will only be a 1,900 Euro mark-up over the standard TTS model.
