Cutting down the weight.
In the world of today’s super cars, weight reduction is king. More and more manufacturers are utilizing carbon fiber, aerospace-grade alloys, and other materials to make their vehicles as light as possible for better performance, emissions, and, of course, fun. Loma Wheels is staying ahead of the curve and their new SP1-RSR forged wheels on this McLaren 650S show exactly why.
The McLaren 650S is the definition of performance from its twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-8 engine to the specially-designed carbon fiber monocoque that forms the basis of the exotic. LOMA Wheels uses the same lightweight principles to form the foundation for their wheels, just like McLaren.
Instead of having just one aspect of their multi-piece wheels constructed from forged alloy, LOMA Wheels has made their SP1-RSR wheels entirely of forged alloy for the sake of performance and reliability. The forging process creates a very dense molecular structure within the aluminum alloy, allowing less material to be used to achieve a desired strength, thus reducing weight in the process.
Both the outer and inner rim of the LOMA SP1-RSR wheels are made from forged alloy, while lightweight titanium hardware us used to complete the fitment. This allows the five split-spoke wheels to reduce rotating mass at the hub, thus improving overall performance from fuel economy to acceleration and even braking.
Up front, these LOMA SP1-RSR wheels measure 9.0 x 20 with a slight concave while the rears come in at 12.0 x 20 with a deeper, more powerful concave. A dark-glossy titanium finish is also applied, which only seems appropriate for the lightweight fitment on this 730-horsepower, tuned McLaren 650S.
Each one of the LOMA SP1-RSR wheels comes standard with TÜV certification, just like all the wheels from the German brand.
