STaSIS Engineering Audi S5 Cabriolet (8F7) Challenge Edition

For those that want RS5-like performance and an open-roof.

The Audi S5 is one of the few performance convertibles that Audi currently offers under $100k. It’s also the only convertible that can hold up to four people in the Audi lineup. So, if you want to take more than one friend out for a thrilling drop-top drive, the S5 is the best, and only, choice you have from Audi. But, STaSIS Engineering has some tricks up their sleeve to make the S5 (8F7) with the 3.0 TFSI engine a bit more rewarding for four people.

The new STaSIS Audi S5 tuning program has been named the “Challenge Edition.” Not because it is challenging to drive, but because it’s challenging to keep yourself from stepping on the throttle. When the S5 first went into production it used the 4.2-liter V-8 that Audi was so fond of using. Then for 2010 MY cars, Audi fitted their 3.0 TFSI, or 3.0T for short (“T” in Ingolstadt apparently stands for “Supercharger”). The supercharged V-6 not only provided a better power band, but improved fuel mileage and boatloads of tuning potential.

The new STaSIS S5 Challenge Edition program pushes the stock 333 horsepower/ 344 lb-ft. 3.0T to a beefy 410 bhp and 370 lb-ft. of torque with just a simple ECU tune and new exhaust system. However, the new exhaust is more than your run-of-the-mill system. The exhaust is made from T304 stainless-steel, uses high-RPM resonators that can be tuned to provide a custom sound, and ends in quad laser-engraved tips.

As part of the S5 tuning program, the Challenge Edition also incorporates numerous chassis upgrades to make the cabriolet more entertaining through the twisties. STaSIS has replaced the stock brakes with Alcon six-piston monoblock calipers, high performance pads, 370-mm front two-piece floating discs, and stainless-steel braided brake lines for powerful stopping power. For improved handling, new Ohlins SL dampers with double digressive damping, increased spring rate, and adjustable ride height have been installed. The package is completed with a set of wide 10.5 x 20 ultra-lightweight forged aluminum wheels with low-profile tires for an even bigger footprint.

The STaSIS Engineering Audi S5 Challenge Edition is the complete tuning package, and is faster in both a straight line and through the corners than the stock S5. The 0-60 mph acceleration time is just 4.3 seconds – 0.7 seconds faster than stock. The Challenge Edition S5 also achieves 1.0 G in lateral acceleration and braking deceleration.

The STaSIS Engineering Audi S5 Cabriolet Challenge Edition is currently available in the US as well as through APS of Brackley in the UK. Customers can order the entire package or individual accessories for 2010+ MY Audi S5s.
