TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster Exposed

TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster

The new global partnership between Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer and electric automaker Tesla Motors.

Here at MotoringExposure we love our sports cars and luxury timepieces, which is why we are pleased to bring you the one-of-a-kind 2010 TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster. The electric sports car features a new interior designed by Tesla Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen. The interior incorporates the avant-garde design elements synonymous with TAG Heuer and a new center console designed to accommodate the new TAG Heuer concept watch that is to be revealed in Basle on March 18th. The TAG Heuer Meridiist mobile phone is also featured along with a one-fifth second Heuer Limited Edition Stopwatch, which pays tribute to the founding of the company in 1860.

The exterior design of the TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster features a Foucault Field Gray color scheme to represent the innovation both companies have brought in their respective industries. Inspiring the design was the new TAG Heuer concept watch which brings technologically advanced art to life through motion. Colors from the TAG Heuer logo are incorporated into the design. The driver’s side is highlighted by a red stripe running from the headlights down the body of the Roadster, a red side mirror, brake calipers, and outer rim, while the passenger side showcases the same features in green.

Since 1860 TAG Heuer has been at the forefront of innovation and style, creating avant-garde timepieces, eyewear, and mobile phones. TAG Heuer was the first to master luxury chronographs with a precision of 1/10th, 1/100th, and 1/1,000th of a second. Throughout its history TAG Heuer has been involved with the auto industry, starting in 1911 when Edouard Heuer received the patent for the first car dashboard chronograph. Currently the Swiss watchmaker is the official timekeeper for the iconic Indy 500 race, measuring time with an accuracy of 1/10,000th of a second.

Tesla is the world’s only automaker selling electric vehicles capable of highway motoring. Based in Silicon Valley, Tesla has sold over 1,000 cars to customers in 21 different countries worldwide. The Tesla Roadster is a plug-in electric sports car capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in just 3.9 seconds, up to an electronically limited 125 mph. The 375-volt AC electric motor creates 288 peak horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, all while being two times more efficient than the Toyota Prius.

TAG Heuer and Tesla Motors will celebrate their partnership on March 18th during Basel world 2010 with the TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster.
