Forced induction for the track day superstar.

Novitec Tridente, the division of Novitec Rosso GmbH & Co.KG that is dedicated to the Maserati brand, has taken the powerful GranTurismo MC Stradale to another level of performance. The Novitec tuning formula is simple but effective: add a supercharger; upgrade the suspension; add staggered wheels; and tweak the bodywork to result in a hardcore Italian sports car.

As with most cars upgraded by Novitec, the prototypical way of extracting generous amounts of power is through the use of a cogged belt-driven supercharger system. The supercharger provides the 4.7-liter V-8 with a satisfying 0.43 BAR (6.23 PSI) of boost pressure and utilizes a new intake manifold for unrestricted airflow. Temperatures are regulated thanks to an upgraded cooling system with water-to-air intercooler system with dedicated water circuit and two heat exchangers. New fuel injectors and a retuned ECU with revised mapping help to reliably provide a meaty power curve that tops out with 646 horsepower at 7,500 RPM and 460 lb-ft. of torque at 5,600 RPM.

With the addition of 196 horsepower from the supercharger conversion, the already potent performance version of the GranTurismo is capable of achieving blistering acceleration times. The sprint to 62 mph takes only 3.9 seconds for the coupe, and 124 mph is reached in a mere 11.4 seconds. Top speed for the stock transmission is 190 mph (306 km/h) but the Novitec Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale is capable of reaching speeds over 205 mph (330 km/h) with longer gearing.

The Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale comes with all the downforce-inducing aerodynamic goodies straight from the factory. The car is, after all, the closest thing to a Maserati racecar currently in production. So, Novitec Tridente decided to leave much of the bodywork alone. The lone modification is a lightweight hood available in an optional clear-coat carbon fiber that features two air vents to help cool the engine bay. Novitec also added a dual 105 mm black exhaust tailpipes that seamlessly fit into the rear diffuser.

Instead of fitting all sorts of gaudy aerodynamic components that could ruin the design of the MC Stradale, Novitec Trident focused on upgrading the wheels, tires, and suspension for better handling performance. Novitec Tridente fitted their NM3 three-piece, five double-spoke forged wheels in a staggered 9J x 21 front and 11.5J x 22 rear fitment. Pirelli P Zero high-performance tires in 255/30 ZR 21 front and 315/25 ZR 22 rear sizes were chosen for greater grip on all road surfaces. The suspension was then calibrated to accommodate the new capabilities of the lightweight wheels and grippy tires. Progressive sport springs were installed and lower the ride height by 25 mm for a better overall center of gravity and precise handling.

Novitec Tridente can also upgrade the interior with a number of trim, leather, and alcantara options in a wide variety of colors. The supercharger conversation for the 4.7-liter engine is available for € 23,900 (+/- 31,700 USD). Customers can also order the hood upgrade without the engine conversion. All of the components are currently available.
