The RENNtech Mercedes CLS63 AMG takes on Godzilla – Video

And it’s closer than you think…

The Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG is quite the powerhouse in the four-door coupe segment. The stock 5.5-liter V-8 churns out over well over 500 horses and still has a great deal of potential. RENNtech, the Mercedes-Benz specialists in Florida, have given the four-door coupe a CLS 63 AMG tuning upgrade by revamping the engine software and increased power all the way to 669 horsepower and 734 lb-ft. of torque measured at the crank (569 hp/625 lb-ft. at the wheels). Making this feat even more impressive is the fact that this was accomplished with the stock intercoolers, exhaust, and intake system!

So, to test out their new upgrade, the RENNtech Mercedes CLS63 AMG lined up against a stock 2012 Nissan GT-R, which has seemingly become the benchmark for drag strip performance. Even with its weight, the CLS63 AMG was able to achieve a 11.21 second @ 126.30 MPH quarter-mile time, just a hair behind the 11.11 second @ 124.08 MPH time of the GT-R. The RENNtech CLS 63 AMG did however beat the GT-R’s trap speed.
