G-Power 760i Storm Exposed

G-Power does what the M Division never did, and made a lightning-fast 7 Series.

Ever since the creation of BMW’s performance-oriented M-Division, the sought-after M badge has been absent from every generation of 7 Series. With the new generation of the 7 Series, G-Power gives the executive sedan a dose of thunderous power and performance with a modified engine, revamped aerodynamics, and commanding wheels.

At the heart of the stock 760i is a mighty 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-12, putting down 535 horsepower. This however, wasn’t enough for G-Power who worked in conjunction with compressor manufacturer ASA to improve engine performance. Maximum boost was raised from 0.5 BAR (7.25 PSI) to 0.9 BAR (13 PSI), giving the G-Power 760i Storm a powerful punch once both turbochargers spooled up. To compensate for the increased boost pressure, larger injection valves were fitted and the engine control unit was re-programmed. A new exhaust system with sport catalytic converters was also installed to reduce backpressure. The end result was 725 horsepower at 5,500 RPM and 737 lb-ft. of torque at just 2,000 RPM. This power surge sends the Storm to 62 mph in just 4.2 seconds, while 124 mph is reached in just 11.9 seconds. Top speed is 214 mph, 64 mph faster than the stock 760i!

To reach such an extreme top speed for an executive sedan, modifications had to be made to the Storm’s bodywork. The new aerodynamics kit not only improves stability at high speeds, but also increases cooling performance by 15 percent. At the front of the Storm is a new carbon fiber skirt that gives the powerful sedan an intimidating face and reduces lift at the front axle. The skirt features larger air inlets that send cool air to the engine’s oil and water coolers. Engine cooling is also improved with the addition of the Kevlar hybrid hood, allowing for hot air to escape from the engine and turbochargers. Along the sides of the G-Power 760i Storm are carbon side skirts that reduce drag. At the rear a new carbon fiber spoiler and diffuser increase downforce, and work in conjunction with the sport quad exhaust pipes to give the storm a bold appearance.

In conjunction with the Storm’s stunning features, G-Power has fitted striking wheels and a spring set. Lowering the Storm by 30 mm, the G-Power spring set gives the sedan a lower center of gravity for better handling dynamics. The G-Power Silverstone three-piece forged aluminum wheels measure 9.5 x 22 inches at the front and 10.5 x 22 inches at the rear and are shod in high-performance Michelin tires for added grip.

The cabin of the G-Power 760i BMW Storm is luxurious, yet sporty with numerous comfort and visual enhancements. Along the side casings, center console, and dashboard, a new carbon fiber trim has been added, alluding to the 725 horsepower hidden beneath the hood. A new ergonomically shaped sports steering wheel has been fitted for greater control and comfort, while the gauges get a G-Power design makeover. Optionally, customers can request a custom-tailored interior of ultra suede or leather in a wide range of colors.

Only ten examples of the G-Power 760i Storm will be produced. The standard wheelbase 760i Storm F01 will start at € 365,000 net (+/- 491,600 USD). Pricing for the long wheelbase 760i Storm F02 will begin at € 375,000 net (+/- 505,000 USD).
