Vehicles that weigh over two tons are not supposed to go over 200 mph. It defies physics. Even some supercars struggle to reach the 200-mph barrier. Gemballa, however, was able to do it and set a record with their GTP 700 based on the Porsche Panamera Turbo in the 2,000 kg-plus weight class category at the Nardo high-speed test track.

The Gemballa team didn’t go out of their way to prepare a car specifically for the track. Instead, they just took a customer car equipped with the GTP 700 package and loaded it up with fuel to take home the prize. Weighing in at 4,508 lbs. (curb) and 4,905 lbs. with driver and fuel, the Gemballa GTP 700 Porsche Panamera Turbo was able to reach an incredible top speed of 338.8 km/h (210.52 mph), verified by AUTO BILD, SPORTSCARS and Continental trade publications.

“The huge 22-inch wheels, unique to this car in the starting field of cars with a performance of more than 300 km/h, were entirely unaltered, as was the full equipment including rear-seat entertainment facility. In addition, the weight, the engine as well as the aerodynamics remained unchanged and were not adapted for this particular occasion,” said Andreas Schwarz, CEO of GEMBALLA, who drove the car himself at the test track.

The 700 horsepower Gemballa GTP 700 was outfitted with a range of engine upgrades, body work, and a few chassis modifications, including cast-iron wheels. The upgrades allow the Panamera Turbo to reach 62 mph in 3.3 seconds, 124 mph in 9.6 seconds, and 186 mph in 26.5 seconds, setting it in a class of supercars.

Gemballa currently offers the full range of GTP 700 upgrades for the Porsche Panamera Turbo along with their Mistrale program with up to 721 horsepower and 704 lb-ft. of torque. Gemballa now holds the record for Fastest Sedan over 2,000 kg.

Is this performance enough to put the Gemballa GTP 700 into the supercar class?
