ABT Brings the Big Guns to Geneva with their 730 HP Audi RS 6-R

Supercar? More like super-wagon.

The Audi RS 6 Avant is a dream for aftermarket tuning companies. It has all the potential in the world packed into its engine bay, a suspension tuned for sport, all the latest and greatest performance technology, and a big ol’ butt. ABT Sportsline is looking to show off their 730 horsepower Audi RS 6-R monster at the Geneva Motor Show this week and show a few supercars how speed is achieved.

“Mind you, the R stands for racy, not for rough or rude,” said CEO Hans-Jürgen Abt. “As with the normal Audi RS6, ours also provides the utmost comfort, sumptuousness and usefulness, limited to 25 cars worldwide.“

The new ABT RS 6-R takes the 4.0 TFSI, twin-turbocharged V-8 to the next level by tapping into its potential with the ABT Power pack. The kit adds on a new ABT Engine Control unit and a stainless steel exhaust system with Y-pipe, sport catalytic converters, and two double tailpipes, all of which has been specifically calibrated and designed to work with each other on the Audi RS 6 Avant. Those goodies equate to a total of 730 (metric) horsepower and 678 lb-ft. of torque for some supercar acceleration and performance numbers. Top speed gets pushed all the way back to 199 mph (320 km/h), making the ABT RS 6-R a rocketship.

While the engine output is impressive, it’s not the only thing that spectators will be gawking over. There’s a big, bad carbon fiber body kit that commands attention arguably more so than the 730 horses under the hood. The kit includes a front lip and blades made from red carbon fiber along with air inlet covers and side flics in the same red material. Red carbon fiber is also visible in the side skirts with side blades, and the two-part rear skirt and middle skirt that add a dynamic presence to the rear axle. Traditional black carbon fiber makes up the side mirrors and rear spoiler that sits atop of the roof to generate some extra downforce at triple-digit speeds.

The ABt RS 6-R also features a sport-tuned chassis to handle those corners with ease. An ABT height-adjustable spring kit helps keep the ride height in the proper place for comfort or sport at the touch of a button. ABT also installed a set of their DR alloy wheels in a 10.0 x 22 ET 52 setup at the front and rear with some 295/25 ZR22 Dunlop sport tires to grab at the asphalt and try to control all 730 horsepower.

But ABT Sportsline still wasn’t done with the Audi RS 6-R. The interior was equipped with a few subtle yet functional upgrades that help make driving more enjoyable. Drivers benefit from a new ABT sports steering wheel with integrated LED shift lights at the top and carbon fiber shift paddles. ABT RS 6-R lettering is featured throughout along with embroidered headrests, floor mats, and red carbon fiber trim pieces.

The new ABT RS 6-R will make its global debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show on March 6th in Hall 1, Booth 1244. The super wagon will be limited to just 25 examples, so hurry and scoop one up!
