One of the worst and most irresponsible things that you can do with a vehicle is to operate it while intoxicated. It is never, ever a good idea to get behind the wheel after drinking. It puts you and others in danger.
For whatever reason, some people don’t care and get behind the wheel after drinking. In Boca Raton, FL, three men are incredibly lucky to be alive after an alleged drunk driver slammed into their work truck.
Nina Rodriguez of Boynton Beach was swerving and driving erratically near Glades Rd. Carlos Soto Jr. was driving two coworkers in their work vehicle when he noticed another driver swerving, and decided to pull over to the shoulder and let her pass to prevent an accident.
Although it was the smart thing to do, Rodriguez smashed into the work truck, causing a burst of flames that sent the three workers scrambling to exit the vehicle.
Florida State Troopers were able to arrest Rodriguez who reportedly had a blood alcohol level of .116.
Thankfully, all three of the men in the work truck were able to escape without any injuries, despite the fire and impact. Rodriguez is charged with failure to drive in a single lane and DUI.
Hopefully this has some kind of an impact to prevent drunk driving in the future. Please be safe and responsible before getting behind the wheel.
