Taking the limited edition one step further.
At the end of 2014, BMW celebrated their youngest-ever DTM Champion with a limited run of M4 DTM Champion Edition models. Only 23 examples were sold to correspond with the young Marco Wittmann’s car number and of those 23, only one has been given the TVW Car Design treatment.
The BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition wears an Alpine White body with matte black hood, roof, and trunk. Colorful rainbow stripes, and orange-surround kidney grilles were all modelled after Wittmann’s race car. Special decals, stripes, starting numbers, flags, and more decorate the limited edition model and make it stand out from the crowd. TVW Car Design improved upon it even more with the addition of a new black front splitter, carbon fiber front flaps, black side skirts, carbon fiber side mirrors, spoiler, and diffuser inserts for a more aggressive look.
From there, the BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition got lighter and thus more dynamic with the addition of BBS FI one-piece forged wheels to replace the factory 19-inch wheels. Up front, the BBS FIs measure 9.5J x 20 and tip the scales at just 19.6 lbs., each while the rear comes in at a 10.5J x 20 size at 20.3 lbs., each. Special Michelin Pilot Super Sport UHP tires in 255/30 ZR20 and 285/30 ZR20 sizes wrap the new black wheels for unrelenting grip. That grip is also improved upon through the use of a new adjustable KW Clubsport coilover suspension.
For the twin-turbocharged engine in the BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition, TVW Car Design opted to install a new Akrapovic Evolution Line titanium exhaust with carbon fiber tailpipes and steering wheel-controlled flap setup. The exhaust boosts output by about 17.5 horsepower and 13 lb-ft. of torque while also cutting 22 lbs. of weight.
But that’s not all! The 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged inline-six was also given a new K&N free-flow air filter and ECU software tune that results in a whopping 517 horsepower and 516 lb-ft. of torque. That’s the stuff champions are made of.
The new TVW Car Design BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition is the only example of the limited edition tuned by the German aftermarket company. The upgrades are also available for standard F82 BMW M4 models.
