Power with a sinister prestige.
The 2014 model-year brought about some changes to the Rolls Royce Ghost. New updates, mechanicals, and a quick nip-and-tuck led to the Ghost Series II, which keeps the model at the forefront of opulent British luxury. Spofec, the Rolls Royce branch of the Novitec Group, has taken the updating process one step further – into the dark side.
The minor visual updates that were launched with the Rolls Royce Ghost Series II were given a darker, more aggressive revamp with the Spofec Black One package. All of the parts that were once chrome-plated from the factory have a new matte black finish. Only the Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament retains its vibrant chrome skin. Everything else, including the body, wears a deep black paint.
The Spofec Black One boasts a newly designed front bumper with larger air vents and an integrated spoiler to reduce lift at the front axle. New side sills are available for either the standard- or long-wheelbase Ghost variants and visually lower the ride height of the luxury car. At the rear, a new three-piece bumper, trunk-mounted spoiler lip, and dual black-coated Spofec sports exhaust tailpipes provide a subtle yet athletic look.
Under the dark bodywork of the Spofec Black One sit massive gold-finished Spofec SP1 wheels with dimensionally offset spokes. The 9.0J x 22 front and 10.5J x 22 rear wheels wear 265/35 ZR22 and 295/30 ZR22 rubber, and can be had with a matte black finish or any other color a customer desires. A Spofec suspension control module is also part of the stance and has been calibrated to accommodate the massive 22-inch rollers while lowering the Ghost by 40 mm.
While the Rolls Royce Ghost Series II is a large and heavy ultra-luxury machine, Spofec found a few ways to cut weight, one of which is with the brakes. A new set of Spofec carbon-ceramic high-performance brakes with ventilated discs reduce rotating mass by 84 lbs. Up front, the fade-resistant brake discs measure 305 x 30 mm while the rear comes in at 395 x 38 mm.
Under the hood is where the Spofec Black One really backs up its nickname. The 6.6-liter, twin-turbocharged V-12 engine in the Ghost Series II benefits from a choice of two engine tunes, the first of which bumps output to 685 horsepower at 5,400 RPM and 707 lb-ft. of torque. The most powerful variant creates 709 horsepower at 5,400 RPM and 718 lb-ft. of torque at 1,800 RPM. The latter tune allows the Spofec Black One to reach 62 mph from rest in only 4.4 seconds and hit an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph to prevent the tires from being destroyed. Each tune can also be paired with the Spofec stainless steel exhaust that cuts 11 lbs. of weight and emits a more diabolical sound.
Customers also have the ability to tailor the interior to their individual tastes to create a truly unique luxury atmosphere as part of the Spofec Black One program.
The new Spofec Black One program for the Rolls Royce Ghost Series II is available for both long- and short-wheelbase models.
