Putting the custom touch on a 997.

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is a true track star designed to take home the checkered flag without being illegal for driving on the streets. The team at KAEGE in Germany know a thing or two about making custom-tailored creations, and this owner of a 997 Porsche 911 GT3 RS got quite the treat.

The hardcore, street-legal super car saw its high-revving 3.6-liter, flat-six engine equipped with some lightweight upgrades. The exhaust benefits from 200-cell catalytic converters that reduce backpressure and cut weight by 15 lbs. More air is sucked in through a carbon fiber air box while the hydraulic steering pump was replaced with an electric unit, reducing power losses and cutting weight. In total, the KAEGE Porsche 911 GT3 RS produces approximately 440 horsepower thanks to the new upgrades.

Controlling that power falls upon the modified drivetrain, starting with the lightweight Sachs sport clutch. Gearshifts are easier thanks to a new CAE-Shifter that sits closer to the GT3 RS 4.0 steering wheel and shortens shift times.

While the 911 GT3 RS is already optimized for tearing up the track, KAEGE was able to make it even lighter and sharper. A new set of BBS racing wheels measuring 9.0 x 19 up front and 12.5 x 19 at the rear cuts a total of 19.8 lbs. and wear Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires for added grip. A new KW Variant 3 aluminum competition chassis with uniball suspended transverse control arms and track rods lend a more athletic dynamic.

KAEGE was able to cut weight even more on the Porsche 911 GT3 RS with a new lithium ion battery that sheds 33 lbs., while another 44 lbs. was shed throughout the rest of the super car. In total, KAEGE was able to reduce the overall weight of the 911 GT3 RS by approximately 112 lbs., lending to better overall performance.

Inside is where the real custom-tailored fun begins. The lightweight carbon fiber seats, door panels, emergency first aid kit, and helmet bag were all given a retro-styled plaid fabric in yellow and black. The center console, rollover bar, and other interior parts were painted body color.
