Who needs the combine?

Football in the United States is a booming industry from pee-wee teams to the National Football League. Some players work their entire lives to just get one shot at playing in the NFL, but many just simply don’t have the talent. A Palm Bay, Florida man was looking to attract football recruiters with a dazzling stunt with hopes that it would go viral.

Well, it went viral…

Nineteen-year-old Bladimir Barreto of Palm Bay, FL was seriously injured when attempting to jump over a moving car driven by his 17-year-old brother in an attempt to showcase his athletic ability to attract the interest of football scouts. Barreto had played for the Brevard Grizzlies amateur football team in the now defunct Florida Football Alliance with hopes of furthering his football career after graduating West Melbourne Christian Academy.

Unfortunately, this stunt has likely ended his career for good. Barreto was not able to clear the Honda Accord and flipped in the air numerous times before falling on the pavement. After emergency personnel arrived on the scene, the conscious Barreto was airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center’s trauma center where he was treated and diagnosed with a serious head injury, compound leg fractures, and numerous other injuries.

Charges for driving without a valid license and reckless driving are pending against his 17-year-old brother driving the Accord.

You may have seen Kobe Bryant and Blake Griffin jump over cars, but we can guarantee you that attempting such a feat will likely give us great material for another Friday FAIL.
