So light and airy!

McLaren has been pumping out sports cars recently, leaving us drooling with excitement. A true grand tourer, however, has been missing from their lineup – until now. At the 2016 Geneva Motor show with their biggest-ever lineup, the new McLaren 570GT will make its official debut.

The new McLaren 570GT is the sports car that you can drive every day and take on long trips without complaints. It’s larger, innovative luggage space, quiet tires, luxury-oriented cockpit, and refined chassis make driving comfortable. Even with the added opulence, the athletic McLaren DNA still remains.

Much of the McLaren 570GT is taken from the 570S Coupe model in the Super Series. The overall design and aerodynamics are incredibly similar with aspects such as the front fascia, creased hood, and shape remaining the same. The McLaren 570GT does, however have a new glasshouse and the classic dihedral doors that open further upwards and outwards compared to the rest of the Sport Series models. A fixed rear spoiler that sits 10 mm higher than the 570S Coupe produces the same level of aerodynamic performance on the new super car.

The same lightweight MonoCell II is used as the basis for the McLaren 570GT just like the rest of the Sports Series lineup, lending to an overall dry weight of 2,976 lbs. That’s paired with a chassis that’s designed for better drivability, featuring softer springs, independently-adaptive dampers, and anti-roll bars.

Engineers even went as far as to work with Pirelli to develop bespoke PZero tires with the Pirelli Noise Cancelling System (PNCS) that reduce road noise by three decibels and offer a balance of comfort and performance. These are fitted to 15-spoke GT cast alloy wheels measuring 19 inches up front and 20 inches at the rear. The McLaren 570GT comes standard with lightweight composite brakes with 370 mm front and 350 mm rear iron discs grabbed by four-piston calipers.

Power in the McLaren 570GT comes from the 3.8-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8 engine. The M838TE motor is the same as the unit in the 570S Coupe and produces 562 bhp at 7,500 RPM and 443 lb-ft. of torque from 5,000 to 6,500 RPM. This allows the super car and its seven-speed seamless-shift gearbox to reach 62 mph from rest in 3.4 seconds and 124 mph in 9.8 seconds while top speed is 204 mph.

One of the biggest features in the McLaren 570GT is its new leather-lined Touring Deck. A glass hatch framed in carbon fiber creates an extra 220 liters of luggage space. When combined with the 150-liter space up front, it offers more usability than any other McLaren model. A special Sound and Solar Film) with 18-percent transmission tint is used on the glass roof to create an open and airy feel for both occupants inside.

The goal for the McLaren 570GT was to create a vehicle geared towards long drives and weekends away. Everyday drivability improves thanks to easier entry and exit with the dihedral doors. Eight-way adjustable electric sports seats with leather come standard as do individually-tailored climate controls. A range of high-end audio systems are available as an option as well as personalized luxury or sport configurations.

The new Mclaren 570GT will make its official public debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Deliveries will start in late 2016 with pricing starting at $198,950.
