Time for some turbodiesel excitement.
The first word in the SUV acronym is “sport”. Today, automakers often forget about sport when it comes to their SUVs, but the Audi SQ5 TDI has more than enough with a torque-filled diesel engine and athletic chassis. The team at ABT Sportsline put their vast experience with Audi models to use to bolster the “sport” in the crossover SUV even more, putting it right at the forefront of the segment.
To kick things up a notch in the fun department, the German team installed their ABT Power upgrade modules for the turbodiesel 3.0-liter V-6 engine in the SQ5 TDI. Here, each of the three engine variants received a pretty significant boost in power, starting with the 313-horsepower version stock that got pushed up to 360 horsepower and 516 lb-ft. of torque. The middle-of-the-pack 326-horsepower factory version got a healthy boost up to 365 horsepower and 524 lb-ft. of torque. The top dog with 340 horsepower stock, gets pushed all the way to 380 horsepower and 575 lb-ft. of torque. All these are available with the ABT Sound Control system that produces an exhaust note similar to that of a sports car instead of the traditional diesel note.
From there, ABT Sportsline gave the chassis a bit of a tweak to making those winding roads a bit more exciting. New height-adjustable suspension springs allow for a lowering of 5-30 mm up front and 10-35 mm at the rear for a better center of gravity depending on the driving situation. These can be combined with the customer’s choice of CR, DR, ER-C, and FR alloy wheels in sizes ranging from 20- to 21-inches in diameter.
Visually, the new ABT Sportsline Audi SQ5 also looks the part. A new, more defined front grille and skirt setup adds a more confident character to the SUV. New fender extensions emphasize muscle while door strip attachments visually lower the ride height. At the rear, the SQ5 wears a new wing spoiler for an extra touch of downforce. Customers also have the option of adding on Anthracite or Silver and Black decal sets as well.
Inside, ABT Sportsline can give the Audi SQ5 TDI new floor and truck mats as well as an integrated entrance light.
