The stuff that dreams are made of.

Visions of performance and design are coming together in Gaydon, England thanks to a new Innovation Partnership between Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing. The collaboration has resulted in the incredible AM-RB 001 hypercar boasting an extremely advanced design with a golden one-to-one power-to-weight ratio.

Making this dream a reality are Adrian Newey, Chief Technical Officer of Red Bull Racing and the world’s most successful F1 designer; Marek Reichman, Aston Martin EVP and Chief Creative Officer; and David King, VP and Chief Special Operations Officer. The three men brought all of Red Bull Racing’s technical expertise and design with Aston Martin’s heritage and character.

“I’ve long harbored the desire to design a road car. The formation of Red Bull Advanced Technologies brought me a step closer to realizing that ambition, but I believed we should work with an automotive manufacturer,” said Adrian Newey. “Aston Martin was at the top of my list. The synergy between Red Bull Racing and Aston Martin is clear. I knew Red Bull Racing had the ability to handle the pure performance aspects, but Aston Martin’s experience of making beautiful, fast and comfortable GT cars is of great benefit to the project. I’ve always been adamant that the AM-RB 001 should be a true road car that’s also capable of extreme performance on track, and this means it really has to be a car of two characters. That’s the secret we’re trying to put into this car – the technology that allows it to be docile and comfortable, but with immense outright capabilities.”

The upcoming AM-RB 001 will bring unprecedented performance to a road-going vehicle without sacrificing usability through form and function. The production will mainly be focused on road-going vehicles but a limited run of tack-only models will also available and offer performance similar to that of today’s LMP1 racers.

The new AM-RB 001 hypercar will be built around a lightweight carbon fiber structure that utilizes very advanced aerodynamics positioned beneath the floor to generate unprecedented levels of downforce and stability. This allowed Reichman to create an almost unrestricted exterior design that is elegantly Aston Martin.

The entire vehicle is built from the ground-up in a completely bespoke fashion. An all-new, mid-mounted and high-revving V-12 engine will power the AM-RB 001, giving it a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio of 1 bhp per kilogram of weight. The transmission was also developed as a bespoke unit by Red Bull Advanced Technologies and Newey while the innovative suspension technology used in the hypercar was designed to utilize principles attained over Newey’s 30-year racing career. Newey’s knowledge of building racecars has also helped to make the AM-RB 001 very compact but still have more than enough space.

The new AM-RB 001 will be built in Gaydon by David King’s team in the purpose-built facility that previously built the Aston Martin One-77. Between 99 and 150 road-going vehicles will be built along with the corresponding prototypes, and 25 track-only versions. Deliveries of the AM-RB 001 will start in 2018 with the full specifications and details being released prior.
