Taking the V-12 Super GT to a new level.

Although cars like the upcoming AM-RB 001 and the track-only Vulcan are grabbing headlines for the British automaker, the Super GT is stealing some of the spotlight with some new features. The new Aston Martin Vanquish S is the second-generation of the ‘S’ specification and it brings forth some serious sport for drivers to enjoy.

“From the moment the original Vanquish was launched it became a modern icon. It propelled Aston Martin from an era of hand-built cars to one where craftsmanship and technology combined to create a new kind of great British GT,” said Dr. Andy Palmer, Aston Martin President & CEO.

“In its second generation the Vanquish maintained that momentum with huge engineering advances such as its all-carbon fiber bodywork and compelling, contemporary styling. Now, the Vanquish S takes things a step further, confidently asserting itself within the Aston Martin range and distinguishing itself from the new DB11. A spectacular machine in every sense, the Vanquish S is a magnificent addition to our range.”

In a world of downsized engines and cylinder numbers, the new Aston Martin Vanquish S sports a classic naturally-aspirated 6.0-liter V-12 engine with a mesmerizing exhaust note. Aston Martin gave the motor a new intake system with larger-volume inlet manifolds for better high-end power. After the new modifications, the engine produces 580 bhp at 7,000 RPM and 465 lb-ft. of torque at 5,500 RPM. That’s an impressive 100 bhp/liter output at 7,000 RPM.

Transferring that power is a rear mid-mounted Touchtronic III eight-speed automatic gearbox. The Vanquish S utilizes an alloy torque tube and carbon fiber prop shaft to keep weight to a minimum along with a new transmission tune that provides faster shifts but greater refinement at low speeds. Using the factory launch control, the Aston Martin Vanquish S can accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 3.5 seconds while the targeted top speed is 201 mph.

While the Aston Martin Vanquish S may be considered a Grand Tourer, it’s a ‘Super GT’ thanks to the fine-tuned suspension. New anti-roll bar bushings, damper intervals, spring rates, and other modifications have been made to the suspension to make the Vanquish S sharper in the corners without affecting the ability to provide a smooth ride upon driver’s request.

Hitting the pavement are 9.0J x 20 front and 11.5J x 20 rear 10-spoke cast alloy wheels with a Gloss Black finish and Pirelli P-Zero tires. Behind these wheels sit ventilated CCM brake discs measuring 398 mm up front and 360 mm at the rear with six- and four-piston calipers, respectively. As an option, customers can choose from an array of 20-inch forged wheels as well.

Visually, the heart-pounding character can be seen through new body work. A full carbon fiber aero package was designed that includes a new front splitter, rear diffuser, and side sills that generate downforce without affecting drag. Carbon fiber also makes up the hood louvres extract hot air from the engine bay. Customers also have an array of options at their disposal such as various graphics packages, carbon fiber trim pieces, and more.

Inside, the Aston Martin Vanquish S boasts Strathmore enhanced-grain leather with ‘Vanquish S’ embroidered headrests and alcantara accents. Soft Bridge of Weir Caithness leather can be optioned or a new ‘Filograph’ quilted leather for an added level of luxury. Even the dashboard paneling can be finished with a Satin Chopped Carbon Fiber trim that showcases the athleticism of the Vanquish S.
