Fly Away with the HPerformance Black Hawk Audi TT-RS

Five-cylinder Fighter.

The Audi TT-RS might fly under the big, bad Audi R8 super car, however it’s quite the thrilling driving experience thanks to its turbocharged inline-five cylinder engine and Quattro all-wheel drive. Many aftermarket tuning companies such as HPerformance have been working hard on optimizing the sports car to push it even further and into super car territory.

The HPerformance Black Hawk is just that – a monster of an Audi TT-RS that’s packed with a high-output engine and ready to tear up the track.

The 2.5-liter, turbocharged inline-five engine was modified heavily by HPerformance. The Black Hawk features a GTX-35 turbocharger mated to the HPerformance exhaust manifold for more boost pressure. Sucking air in is a 90 mm air intake while a 90 mm Clubsport exhaust system reduces backpressure. Keeping temperatures optimized is an in-house intercooler setup. The entire fuel system was also upgraded on the Black Hawk with new additions such as a tuned high-pressure pump and optimized injectors to accommodate for the extra boost pressure. A new spring-borne sintered metal clutch helps the drivetrain handle the increase in power after software development partner, MTR-Performance, worked on the ECU.

As a result of the HPerformance modifications, the Black Hawk Audi TT-RS throws down an incredible 750 horsepower and 649 lb-ft. of torque through the Quattro all-wheel drive system.

Helping the HPerformance Black Hawk to counteract all that power and performance are a set of OEM Audi R8 ceramic brakes that provide unrelenting, fade-free stopping power.

With 750 horsepower, is the HPerformance Black Hawk TT-RS better than an Audi R8? It’s likely quicker and faster than the German super car, however it still likely falls short in the handling department due to the R8’s mid-engined layout. You’re also breaking into R8 territory after the HPerformance upgrade package. So the question then becomes, do you desire power or handling performance?

The complete HPerformance upgrade program featured on the Black Hawk Audi TT-RS is available for 50,000 euros. Customers can also opt for the 600 horsepower turbo kit for 9,999 euros as well.
