Hamann Motorsport refined Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

The SLS AMG spreads its wings.

The first Gullwing from Mercedes-Benz was one of the most iconic cars ever produced by the German automaker. The latest Gullwing stirs the emotions with classic styling and an AMG-powered V-8. Engineers at Hamann Motorsport decided to make the new SLS AMG more memorable and performance driven by highlighting the classic design with new wheels, and a more dynamic suspension.

To accentuate the bold and classic design of the SLS AMG, Hamann Motorsport fitted new lightweight wheels. Hamann’s new, forged alloy Design Edition Race “Anodized” wheels are fitted, featuring an elaborate cross-spoke design. Constructed using an advanced manufacturing process, the 21-inch aluminum alloy wheels boast an incredibly light weight and are corrosion resistant. Contrasting the matte black anodized finish are motorsport-derived titanium bolts. The forged wheels give the SLS AMG a wider footprint, measuring 9J x 21 at the front and 11J x 21 at the rear. New high-performance 245/30 ZR 21 front and 295/25 ZR 21 rear tires are fitted for added grip.

Squeezing out a few German ponies and letting the AMG V-8 roar is a new Hamann Mercedes SLS AMG exhaust system. The stainless steel system features four 90 mm exhaust pipes – two on each side that produce an unforgettable sound. All four exhaust pipes fit through the stock bumper for a clean look.

Also boosting performance for the SLS AMG is a new suspension setup allwoing for more dynamic and responsive handling, while also emphasizing the new “Anodized” forged wheels. The progressively wound suspension lowers the SLS’s center of gravity by 30 mm, thus improving handling and stability at high speeds.

The new refining program from Hamann Motorsport gives the newest Gullwing a powerful and unforgettable appearance, while adding a growling exhaust note. The refining package is currently available from Hamann, while the new Design Edition Race “Anodized” wheels are available separately for € 10,500 (+/- 13,500 USD).
