McLaren Special Operations Debuts their One-Off MSO 650S Coupe Concept

One Special McLaren.

Before McLaren begins their China tour, they started things off with a bang by unveiling their one-off MSO 650S Coupe Concept. The new supercar design concept features all sorts of new aerodynamics and styling upgrades inside and out that will be available on the 650S Coupe and Spider models as well as the MP4-12C models.

The bespoke division of the British automaker, McLaren Special Operations, has given the 650S Coupe a more aggressive and stealth-like attitude thanks to its new exterior design features. An innovative new in-house developed ‘Agrigan Black’ color is worn by the supercar and is a metallic black paint that features special ruby red metallic flakes that change the supercar’s color when it is exposed to sunlight.

Adding some contrast to the color-changing paint on the MSO 650S are new carbon fiber aerodynamics that aid in cooling and downforce. The front fascia boasts a new front splitter and air intakes while MSO side blades and ear diffusers give the supercar a more aggressive look. Each side of the 650S concept wears new MSO-branded, satin-finished side blades and optimize airflow as it moves towards the rear. Here, a GT3-inspired bumper has an integrated carbon fiber cross-section while a carbon fiber airbrake and MSO diffuser work together to keep that butt planted on the asphalt.

The MSO team didn’t stop there with the 650S Coupe Concept, though. The 3.8-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8 engine was outfitted with satin black covers and satin-finished carbon fiber parts for the engine bay to visually showcase the power of the motor. The chassis also rides on satin black-finished lightweight ‘650S’ wheels wearing Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires.

Inside, the MSO 650S Coupe Concept has all the sinister dark colors as the exterior. New fixed-black carbon fiber racing seats based on the McLaren P1s wear carbon black leather and position occupants lower than the factory seats while also shedding 33 lbs. Satin-finished carbon fiber decorates the entire cockpit while gloss black bezels and knobs add a bit of contrast.

The MSO 650S is intended to be a one-off design concept with a few upgrades like the MSO side blades (£5,114) and rear diffuser (£7,245) are available for the standard 650S Coupe and Spider models as well as the MP4-12C. The MSO team will be monitoring the reaction of the 650S Coupe Concept so be sure to make your opinions known so that it enters production!
