The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG “Edition 507” Brings the Excitement

C63 AMG Edition 507

A daily-driving option for the Black Series.

Back in the summer of 2012, Mercedes-Benz unveiled its C63 AMG Black Series Coupe, which brought a new level of performance to the C63 AMG. A great deal of motorsports technology and know-how were packed into the Black Series to make it quite the performer on the track. But, all that fun stuff provided a harsher ride and made daily driving a bit more uncomfortable. Now, Mercedes-Benz is offering the new C63 AMG “Edition 507” that keeps the same level of daily driving comfort as the “base” AMG variant, but is packed with a great deal of excitement found in the Black Series model.

The new Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG “Edition 507” coupe, sedan, and estate models will be powered by an uprated version of the 6.2-liter V-8 engine that benefits from a few parts shared by its SLS AMG GT sibling. The naturally-aspirated M156 engine gains a new lightweight crankshaft, connecting rods, and forged pistons from the Gullwing super car that reduces weight by a total of 6.6 lbs. (3.0 kg). A unique Titanium-grey painted variable intake manifold is exclusive to the model and adds a touch of style to the hand-built engine. After the addition of a new ECU, the engine is capable of producing 507 horsepower at 6,800 RPM and 450 lb-ft. (610 Nm) of torque at 5,200 RPM. The sedan and coupe variants of the C63 AMG “Edition 507” models will be capable of running a 0-62 mph time of 4.2 seconds, while the estate will do the same sprint in 4.3 seconds. All three variants will be electronically-limited to 174 mph (270 km/h), thus outperforming all of the C63 AMG variants, except the Black Series models.

All of those 507 ponies are sent to the road through a new set of new AMG forged wheels with a cross-spoke design and 19-inch diameter. The forged wheels can be given a slick titanium grey with high-sheen finish or matte black with high-sheen rim flanges, and equipped with 235/35 R 19 and 255/30 R 19 front and rear tires. Behind the forged wheels sit new AMG high-performance brakes with composite technology. The lightweight composite discs utilize 360 x 36 mm discs and six-piston front, four-piston rear fixed aluminum calipers with a vibrant red paint. The composite brakes help to reduce rotational mass at the wheel hub and provide more reliable, fade-resistant braking capable of extended high-performance driving.

C63 AMG Edition 507

The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG “Edition 507” separates itself from the rest of the AMG lineup with special exterior styling cues and a more aggressive appearance. A new hood that originates from the C63 AMG Black Series is worn by all three 507-horsepower variants and features two vents to help dissipate heat more efficiently. A new rear spoiler with carbon fiber finish helps to generate downforce at the rear axle and improve high-speed stability. Matte graphite grey AMG sports stripes run lengthwise above each side sill and contrast the exterior paint along with the high-gloss black daytime running lights, side mirrors, and radiator grille surround. Darkened headlights also stare ahead and help provide an aggressive contrast to the exterior paint color. Customers of the “Edition 507” models will be able to opt for the exclusive designo magno platinum paint finish as well.

Mercedes-Benz will offer the C63 AMG “Edition 507” models with three different interior designs: porcelain designo leather/DINAMICA, black designo leather/DINAMICA, and black designo leather that bring an exclusive touch to the sports car. The designo leather/DINAMICA combos offer a special light stitching and contrasting colors to add a special touch of luxury. Facing the driver is an AMG performance steering wheel with alcantara, contrasting stitching, and a 12 o’clock indicator, while special red applications in the AMG gauge cluster create a sporty look and feel. Customers will enjoy a high-gloss black piano lacquer look trim with special “Edition 507” badge on the passenger’s side of the dashboard, while an AMG badge and DINAMICA finish is worn by the gear selector.

The new Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG “Edition 507” will be offered with a full range of comfort, styling, and performance upgrades from the AMG Performance Studio to completely customize the sports car. The new “Edition 507” will make its debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show on March 5th, with sales beginning on April 8th, 2013 around the world, and June of 2013 in Germany. Pricing has not been released.
