MTM Audi RS6 Clubsport Exposed

More power, less weight, and a lofty goal.

Twenty years ago, Roland Mayer founded MTM (Motoren Technik Mayer) and Audi took home a DTM victory with the V8 Quattro. Bearing many similarities with the legendary V8, the new RS6 Clubsport is the pinnacle of performance sedans. Last year, MTM was able to achieve a record top speed of 213.88 mph (344.2 km/h) with the MTM RS6 R. The new MTM RS6 Clubsport looks to topple that record by reaching 217.48 (350 km/h).

Once holding the trophy as being the fastest Audi, the current generation RS6 boasts an impressive 5.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-10 with 580 horsepower. Engineers at MTM have squeezed out 730 horsepower and 634 lb-ft of torque, pushing the mighty V-10 to the extreme. The power comes as a result of a retuned ECU and an MTM exhaust system. The quad exhaust system consists of a stainless steel catalytic converter and rear silencer with 80 mm (3.14 in.) pipes and a control system for the throttle valves. Along with the modified high-rev gearing the Clubsport accelerates to 62 mph in just 3.6 seconds and hits 124 mph in about 11 seconds.

The high-powered Clubsport isn’t built just for straight-line acceleration. MTM has taken steps to ensure that the RS6 Clubsport carves through corners. After shedding a few hundred pounds, the Clubsport weighs in at just under two tons. A new MTM Audi height adjustable suspension kit lowers the car 10 to 45 mm. The front suspension geometry has also been modified to give the Clubsport greater handling characteristics.

To put all 730 horses to the pavement, MTM utilizes new Bitmoto wheels and a set of new rubber. The nine-spoke wheels can be ordered in 20 or 21 inches and wear 305/30 ZR 21 Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires. Behind the imposing wheels is MTM’s high-powered brake system. The system features six-piston Brembo monobloc calipers and 405 x 36 mm discs. Customers can also opt to retain the stock Carbon-Ceramic brakes, which can be fitted with a stronger air brake system.

The sporty character of the MTM Audi RS6 Clubsport shines throughout and stays true to Mayer’s belief that “We have to win, not with eye-catching spoilers, but with best times, best speed.” The exterior bodywork has been modified with a carbon diffuser and a subtle carbon front spoiler lip to reduce lift. Inside, the RS6 Clubsport is a stripped-down racecar bearing little resemblance to the stock RS6. Both the front seats have been replaced with lightweight Recaro bucket seats and six-point racing harnesses. The rear seats have been replaced with a roll cage for added safety.

MTM also offers individual tuning products from the RS6 Clubsport. Pricing for both the MTM Audi RS6 Clubsport and accessories can be found at MTM-online.de.
