Porsche Design unveils the Bike S and Bike RS for true enthusiasts

Two-wheeled Porsche performance.

The Porsche Design Group is a majority-owned subsidiary of Porsche AG, dedicated to the creation and design of lifestyle and car culture accessories for Porsche owners. Many of the accessories are designed with uncompromised performance in mind, with the latest examples being the Bike S and Bike RS from the Porsche Design Driver’s Selection.

The new Bike S proudly wears the “S” badge, distinguishing it as a more sport-oriented bicycle model. The Bike S features an aluminum 7005 frame that offers comfort, strength, and lightweight performance. Power is transferred to the rear wheel through an 11-speed Shimano Alfine IGH and toothed-belt drive system to reduce slippage. Bringing the Bike S to a halt is the newest-generation of hydraulic Magura disk brakes and 29-inch wheels shod in performance tires.

The Bike RS is the closest street-legal racer available from Porsche. Just like the 911 GT3 and GT2 RS models, the Bike RS is an all-out performance-minded bicycle built for Rennsport (aka Motorsport). The bicycle is made using a lightweight and stiff carbon fiber frame boasting a modular monocoque construction. A 20-speed Shimano XTR and pair of 29-inch Crank Brothers wheels help put all the horsepower to the pavement, while hydraulic Magura disc brakes with carbon fiber brake levers provide unrelenting stopping power.

The Porsche Design bicycles offer the perfect complement to any Porsche sports car. Every bicycle is fitted with a unique code number underneath the paint to deter theft. The number can be registered on a dedicated website and be reported as stolen so that prospective buyers can check the database to ensure their bicycle has not been reported before purchase.

The Porsche Design Bike S and Bike RS are currently available as part of the Driver’s Selection line. The bicycles will be available in S, M, and L, sizes and can be purchased in the autumn of 2011.
