RENNtech unleashes the 911 Turbo

Hear those turbos scream!

The newest 997.2 Porsche 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S models are performance monsters with blistering acceleration. The only problem is that their twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-sixes sound rather subdued.

The engineers over at RENNtech have developed a new exhaust system that not only allows the voice of the 911 Turbo to be heard, but also boosts power considerably. The system replaces the factory exhaust system and saves just under 40 lbs. of weight. It uses 200-cell HJS tri-metal sport catalytic converters with center muffler bypass valves to unleash a full-bodied, turbocharged sound from the Turbo and Turbo S. The exhaust system uses the stock pre- and post-oxygen sensors to comply with emissions, and negate the need for an ECU tune.

After being dyno’ed the 911 Turbo made 19 horsepower and 15 lb-ft. of torque more than the aftermarket muffler and exhaust previously installed. The exhaust is priced at $2,860 from RENNtech. Check out the 911 video!
