Why? Because why the hell not?!

In the age of downsizing engines for the sake of emissions and fuel economy, the high-displacement, high-cylinder setups are becoming ancient, fuel-guzzling dinosaurs that will someday be found submerged in tar pits millions of years down the road.

And while many automakers are saying goodbye to their V-12s, V-10s, and V-8s, Aston Martin is hanging on to the V-12 and slapping two turbochargers on it for their upcoming DB11 model. While the naturally-aspirated engines in the Aston Martin model line will essentially be dead, there’s still hope for high-cylinder fun.

According to CAR Magazine, the new Aston Martin DB11 will feature a smaller-displacement 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V-12 that will be the most powerful in the company’s history. The engine will also be available alongside an anticipated version of Mercedes-AMG’s 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 as well.

As for now, we’re just left with this teaser, and boy does it sound glorious!
