Houston, we have a new world record.

Hennessey Performance builds some of the fastest cars in the world. The Hennessey Performance Venom GT super car even gave the Bugatti Veyron a run for its money for the top speed title. After going well over 200 mph at the Standing Mile competitions in Texas, they set a new world record.

At the 2012 March Texas Mile competition, Sean Kennedy drove Mark Heidaker’s Ford GT that was built by Hennessey Performance to a new world record – 257.7 mph! That’s not even the top speed of the car; we’re talking about how fast it can go in one mile.

Hennessey Performance has a history with the Ford GT, as they offer a number of upgrade kits that range from the “modest” 710 bhp GT700 to the extreme 1,000 bhp GT1000.
