That’s going to cost a lot of money.

Walter Röhrl is easily one of the greatest drivers in the world. His legacy in the World Rally Championship is incredible. Although his racing career is over, he’s been working as a development and test driver for Porsche, helping them hone in on the perfect driving setup.

One of the vehicles that he’s been driving for quite some time is the Porsche 918 Spyder. From the initial development stages to showcasing the car’s capabilities for media and customers, Röhrl probably has more seat time than anyone in the new hybrid hyper car.

During a recent Auto Bild program at the Sachsenring record day featuring 21 cars from MTM T500, Röhrl got behind the wheel of a Porsche 918 Spyder in Martini Racing livery for some high-speed laps.

On one corner, Röhrl lost control and ended up crashing right into the wall, damaging the 918 Spyder and ending his day early. Thankfully, he was not injured in the crash.

He later told Auto Bild that it was likely something on the asphalt that caused the crash (skip to 5:18).
