Wimmer RST gets Crazy with the KTM X-Bow GT

Racing on the road.

The KTM X-Bow is quite possibly one of the coolest performance-oriented sports cars that you can drive – well, right alongside the Ariel Atom, Lotus 2-Eleven, and Caterham 7, that is. It’s designed for incredible driving performance and fun and its X-Bow GT variant delivers that on both the racetrack and roadways. Wimmer RST has a new tuning program for the X-Bow GT for those that have a few screws loose upstairs and want even more power and performance.

The new Wimmer RST KTM X-Bow GT is incredibly fast. On a car that weighs a mere 1,867 lbs, any extra ponies are going to provide a huge difference, and the new upgrade program has quite a bit. The Audi-sourced 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four cylinder engine with 285 horsepower and 310 lb-ft. of torque, stock benefits from a new H-shaft rod, forged pistons, and turbocharger from the German tuner along with a full sports exhaust system with 100-cell sports catalytic converter with Y-pipe, high-pressure pump, pre-feed fuel pump, and special water pump from the KTM Power Parts program. After some experienced ECU software reprogramming from Wimmer RST, the KTM X-Bow GT sits with an output of 435 horsepower at 6,400 RPM and 369 b-ft. of torque at 2,860 RPM. This allows the lightweight super sports car to reach 62 mph in 3.3 seconds and 124 mph in only 11.7 seconds while top speed is pushed back to 153 mph.

The Wimmer RST team chose not to focus much on the interior and exterior of the car primarily because it’s already a wonderful example of automotive performance right from its Austrian factory. However, the team did opt for comfort seats with orange seams, leather shift gaiter, new handbrake, “GT” stitched lettering, and a new multifunction navigation control.

On the exterior side of things, the Wimmer RST-tuned KTM X-Bow GT comes with a specially-colored hood to match the KTM logo as well as center-locking five-spoke racing wheels.

The KTM X-Bow by Wimmer RST is a fantastic “super sports car” that will provide white-knuckle driving on the road or racetrack. Pricing for all of the upgrades and the entire car have not been released.
