The Mercedes-Benz E500 BlueEfficiency might have its sights set on a smooth and comfortable ride with more than enough propulsion on tap, but the team at VAETH wanted it to be known for its muscle and athleticism. Their new V50RS tuning kit and chassis upgrades ensure that the E500 it one bad ‘Benz.

The starting point is the M 278 twin-turbocharged 4.6-liter V-8 engine that is packed with potential thanks to those two snails feeding boost. VAETH developed their V50RS tuning kit specifically for this engine that includes a new intercooler and ECU software tune catered to each individual engine. The kit also features a stainless steel axle-back exhaust system with valve controls ending in two 115 x 85 mm tailpipes with crimped edges. That’s good for a boost up to 550 horsepower and 612 lb-ft. of torque along with a top speed of 186 mph with the proper tires.

With the factory engine output clearly left in the dust, the VAETH team then shifted their focus to the chassis of the Mercedes-Benz E500. The Airmatic suspension was upgraded by VAETH to accommodate a sportier second stage of damping or a setup geared more towards comfort, depending on the situation.

The factory front brakes on the Mercedes-Benz E500 were swapped out for a new set of 390 mm discs and six-piston calipers. New high-performance pads, stainless steel flex lines, and Castrol SRF racing fluid ensure maximum stopping power at all times. Hiding the fatter brakes are three-piece VAETH forged wheels in a 9.0 x 20 front, 10.5 x 20 rear fitment with 255/30 R20 and 295/25 R20 tires. The new wheels can also be fitted in sizes ranging from 8.5 to 11.0 x 20 with custom-finished center stars.

VAETH chose the more subtle performance look when it came to the exterior of the E500. A carbon-look trunk spoiler generates some extra downforce while an optional diffuser integrates the new exhaust tips. Inside, the German tuners can install carbon fiber trim, Alcantara, and leather along with a new steering wheel, foot pedals, and other accessories.
