Because the Speciale just wasn’t aggressive enough.

Prior Design has a knack for creating aerodynamic body kits that make sports cars and super cars bigger, bolder, and wider than ever. Their new PD458WB Widebody Aerodynamic kit for the Ferrari 458 Italia is no different and makes quite the visual statement for the Prancing Horse.

The Prior Design PD458WB Widebody Aerodynamic kit can trace its roots back to the PD458 that made its debut at Monaco, which was not a widebody. The new PD458WB features many of the same or similar upgrades along with big, beefy fenders that emphasize power and performance.

The conversion starts up front with a new PD458WB bumper featuring a similar vertical piece to that of the LaFerrari paired with four-piece side flics. A ventilated front hood sits above the bumper and is flanked by two powerful GT3-racing-look fenders that extend a total of 60 mm outwards. Running to the 120 mm wider rear fenders are a new pair of side skirts armed with a subtle upwards flic for better aerodynamics.

The rear of the Ferrari 458 Italia is finished off with a rear bumper and diffuser combo along with a trunk spoiler for added downforce. As an option, customers can have carbon fiber ventilated engine covers installed above the mid-mounted 4.5-liter V-8.

Filling in those massive wheel wells in the Prior Design PD458WB is no easy task. However, Prior Design offers in-house three-piece forged wheel designs that measure a staggered 9.5 x 21 up front with 255/30 ZR21 tires and 11.5 x 22 at the rear with 325/25 ZR22 Continental tires. Ensuring that the new shoes fit snug inside the fenders is a full optional H&R Sport Suspension setup that reduces the ride height by 35 mm.

But Prior Design didn’t just stop at upgrading the visual aspect of the Ferrari 458 Italia; the team worked on making that high-revving 4.5-liter V-8 even more magical. Prior Design offers a software tune that squeaks out approximately 30 horsepower and 30 lb-ft. of torque more out of the engine. A full exhaust system including 200-cell racing catalytic converters, manifolds, and muffler with flap control can also be installed as an option to boost power by approximately 40 horsepower.

Inside, customers can have the Prior Design team give their PD458WB a new pair of seats clad in Alcantara and/or Nappa leather with red stitching for that extra touch of exclusivity.

The new Prior Design PD458WB Widebody Aerodynamic kit for the Ferrari 458 Italia is available for 24,900 euros while the software tune and exhaust is priced at 12,800 euros, and can be ordered separately.
