Taking the BMW M4 to insane levels of fun.
The BMW M4 is all you could ever want in a driver’s car from the power to the looks. But the team at Carbonfiber Dynamics wasn’t satisfied so they gave it a full suit of carbon fiber aero and then took it a step further by adding in all sorts of power and handling upgrades. The result is the M4R Project with upwards of 600 horsepower.
The first thing that the Carbonfiber Dynamics crew focused on was the exterior, as carbon fiber is their specialty. A Varis carbon front lip sits up front to reduce lift while a VSDC System-2 hood sits above and helps to cool the engine bay. New carbon fiber side skirts run to the rear where they meet the Varis carbon fiber diffuser. Downforce is generated by an Alpha-N Performance rear wing while a Boca Design high-kick carbon spoiler lip sits beneath. To finish off the new M4R Project, new carbon fiber side gills and mirror caps were installed.
Under the composite material hides a heavily-tuned 3.0-liter inline-six engine in the M4R Project. The team at Burger Motorsport had their JB4 software tuning program with eight different maps installed along with a nine-liter methanol injection system. The company’s enlarged air intake with mushroom filters and new aluminum charge pipes were also installed. Coming from TurboEngineers is a TTE6xx turbocharger with beefy internals cranks up the power while a 7.0-lb. Akrapovic downpipe mated to a lightweight, valve-controlled exhaust system gets the gasses out more efficiently. In order to handle the added power, a new Dodson Motorsport clutch kit was fitted.
After the engine upgrades, the Carbonfiber Dynamics M4R Project churns out 600 horsepower with just 1.8 BAR of boost pressure. Turning the boost up to 2.3 BAR while optimizing the software and methanol can shoot that up to a whopping 700 horsepower.
To ensure that the BMW M4 could handle that kind of power the Carbonfiber Dynamics team set out to upgrade the chassis. Here, they gave the M4R Project a new set of 20-inch BBS CI-R wheels with a platinum silver finish. The lightweight flow forged wheels were shod in sticky Toyo Proxes T1 rubber to grab the pavement with ease.
Bringing the M4R Project to a halt are new Mov’it brakes with a six-piston, 392 mm disc front and four-piston, 380 mm disc rear setup. Ensuring that corners are sliced up with ease is a new Bilstein B16 damp tronic coilover active suspension that communicates with the factory EDC to automatically adjust its settings on the fly.
The new Carbonfiber Dynamics M4R Project is a showcase of all the brand’s products, which are all currently available for all BMW M4 models.
