The Porsche 911 GT2 RS gets turned up to 11 with the TechArt GT Street RS

The most powerful Porsche to come out of Leonberg.

It was once thought that the Porsche 911 GT2 RS was the most radical, awe inspiring 911 available. That is, until TechArt introduced the 700+ horsepower GT Street RS. The TechArt GT Street RS is the most powerful car to come from the German tuner, and likely will be for some time. But the car isn’t just about power. It also has flashy looks that make the GT2 RS look rather boring.

The 3.6-liter flat-six engine in the 911 GT2 RS is already the most powerful engine used in a road-production Porsche. TechArt looked at this as more of a challenge to build something even better, and successfully did so with help from the new power kit TA 097/T2.2. The kit consists of new turbochargers, intercooler, piping, intake and exhaust upgrades, software optimization, and a sports clutch. The result of these upgrades is a monstrous 720 horsepower at 6,600 RPM and 664 lb-ft. of torque at 5,000 RPM. The upgraded power helps reduce the 0-62 mph time down to a mere 3.3 seconds, while 124 mph is reached in 9.5 seconds, and 186 mph in 24.8 seconds. Top speed is a blisteringly fast 218.72 mph with special tires, or 210 mph without.

In order to achieve such a high speed, TechArt had to modify much of the bodywork to generate additional downforce and cooling. The front wears a new bumper with fixed carbon fiber splitter and an adjustable polyurethane spoiler to reduce lift and send cool air to the front brakes. Air outlets in the front fenders help expel hot air from the brakes while side skirts help to channel cool air into the larger air ducts at the rear fenders. The rear bumper is also new and uses a carbon fiber diffuser to create a low pressure area underneath the car, and a carbon fiber spoiler to create downforce.

The TechArt GT Street RS wears ultra-lightweight wheels to improve performance even further. 8.5J x 20 ET 40 and ET 52 front; and 12J x 20 ET 50 rear Formula Race forged alloy wheels with center locking systems reduce weight by 10 percent when compared to similar TechArt wheels, and 25 percent over stock alloy wheels. The reduced unsprung mass, VarioPlus coilover suspension, and TechArt noselift system help improve stability and handling performance drastically.

As with all TechArt models, the interior can be refined in a custom combinations of leather colors, alcantara, carbon fiber, and other trims. The TechArt Porsche is available with aluminum pedals and illuminated door entry guards.

The TechArt GT Street RS based on the Porsche 911 GT2 RS will be displayed at the 2011 IAA in Frankfurt. Pricing and availability have not been released.
