Ride around the ‘Ring in the new Z06.

When the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 was first tested around the 12.9-mile Nürburgring Nordschliefein 2005, it set a lap time of 7:42. Chevrolet recently returned to the ‘Ring with an improved 2012 Corvette Z06 and shattered the record by 20 seconds.

The 505-horsepower Corvette Z06 is the lightest and fastest model in the Corvette lineup under the ZR-1. The new 2012 model was fitted with the optional Z07 chassis package that included new Michelin Pilot Sport tires, Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, Performance Traction Management, Magnetic Selective Ride Control, and new carbon fiber aerodynamics and bodywork.

With the new Z07 package, the 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 was able to lap the Nürburgring in just 7:22.68 with Corvette engineer, Jim Mero, behind the wheel. This new time is only three seconds slower than the ZR-1 and one of the fastest times for a car under $100,000. Check out the new in-car Nürburgring Video!
