Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Blancpain Edition Exposed

A marriage of engineering excellence and breathtaking performance.

The first Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race was launched in October of 2008, with the inaugural season beginning in May of 2009. The one-make racing series gives customers the opportunity to visit all of Europe’s famous racing circuits racing in a modified Gallardo LP560-4 aptly named the Gallardo Super Trofeo. Since the beginning of the factory racing series, the world’s oldest luxury watchmaker, Blancpain, has been the title sponsor. The sponsorship brings together two of the most respected and prestigious brands in the watch and automobile industries. To commemorate the successful sponsorship and factory-backed race series, Lamborghini has unveiled a new model, the Gallardo LP570-4 Blancpain Edition.

The new LP570-4 Blancpain Edition comes as one of Lamborghini’s fiercest street-legal models by incorporating motorsport technology from the Super Trofeo racing series and a striking design. One of the most distinct aspects about the Blancpain Edition is the matte black paint for a sinister look. At the rear, Lamborghini has fitted a new engine cover derived from the Super Trofeo racing series that improves engine cooling. For added downforce, the Gallardo sports a large rear spoiler that bears the “JB 1735” badge. New Skorpius wheels have also been fitted and feature a black finish, while yellow-painted calipers clench carbon-ceramic composite discs for unrelenting stopping power. Carbon fiber components such as the side mirrors and diffuser are left naked on the Blancpain Edition for a raw appearance.

Inside, the new Gallardo receives the same motorsport-oriented treatment. Black Alcantara is worn throughout the interior for added grip and comfort, and is contrasted by yellow accents and carbon fiber trim pieces. The signature Blancpain logo is also featured on the seats and dashboard in yellow stitching to finish the cockpit.

Just like the Gallardo Super Trofeos that race in Lamborghini’s factory series, the Blancpain Edition uses the same 5.2-liter V-10 to push the street-legal supercar to the extreme. The V-10 sits behind the driver and sends 570 horses to all four wheels of the Gallardo for superior grip in every driving situation. The usage of carbon fiber throughout the race-bred Gallardo makes it the lightest street-legal model in the Lamborghini lineup, weighing in at only 2,954 pounds. The light weight gives the Blancpain Edition a power-to-weight ratio of 5.18 pounds per horsepower and allows for a 3.4-second 0-62 mph time. The 124 mph mark is reached in just 10.2 seconds, and top speed exceeds 199 mph.

The Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Blancpain Edition brings together the precision engineering and legacy of the world’s oldest luxury watchmaker and one of the most respected Italian car makers. Since 1735, Blancpain has built innovative timepieces, each being assembled by one watchmaker. Blancpain’s current CEO, Marc A. Hayek, also participates in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo, and has achieved several victories in the competitive racing series.
