The newest bull to come from Sant’Agata Bolognese is the first open-top model to bear the Superveloce nameplate and will be limited to just 500 units globally. The new Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Roadster was unveiled at the famous event, ‘The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering’ by ’Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.

‘‘The Superveloce is the purest, most sports-oriented and fastest series production Lamborghini ever. The Roadster version represents our commitment to satisfying our passionate clients with immensely emotional driving dynamics combined with an extraordinary open air experience,’’ said Winkelmann.

Just like its closed-top sibling, the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Roadster utilizes a more powerful version of the naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter V-12. A total of 750 P (740 hp) at 8,400 RPM and 509 lb-ft. of torque at 5,500 RPM propels the drop-top to 62 mph in just 2.9 seconds and to a top speed of over 217 mph – just 0.1 seconds behind the coupe.

The additional 50 horsepower over the standard LP 700-4 model also comes with a drop in weight. Compared to the LP 700-4 Roadster, the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Roadster is 110 lbs. lighter, for a total dry weight of 3,472 lbs. That’s good for a power-to-weight ratio of 4.6 lbs./hp.

Controlling all of that power is the Haldex Generation IV all-wheel drive system paired with the advanced seven-speed ISR gearbox. The SV model also benefits from a Magneto Rheological Suspension, pushrod dampers, and the Lamborghini Dynamic Steering (LDS) system to push the envelope of driving dynamics.

But the real draw for the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Roadster is its open-top driving experience. A two-piece hardtop constructed from lightweight carbon fiber RTM and Forged Composite offers high torsional stiffness and allows for a complex design. The two parts weigh only 13.2 lbs. and can be easily removed and stored in the luggage compartment. A special power rear window can be retracted with or without the top on so that the ferocious V-12 exhaust note can fill the cockpit with its beautiful sounds.
