The BMW X6 M high-performance Sport Activity Vehicle or whatever you’d like to call it does one thing very well – throw down the power. The M-tuned 4.4-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8 is just packed with power that rockets the coupe-shaped crossover to triple digit speeds with ease. G-Power is taking advantage of that power and potential with two tuning options and a choice of wheels to put it all to the asphalt below.
The G-Power team developed two different tuning options that have the same goal but are geared for different things. The first is the Bi-Tronik 5 V1 power module that is a plug-and-play unit sitting between the factory ECU and engine. It is only activated under full throttle and when the pre-determined oil temperature is reached. All the factory diagnostic and protection systems remain are unaffected.
Under full throttle, the G-Power Bi-Tronik 5 V1 power module alters the fuel delivery, boost pressure, and ignition mapping to create an additional 75 horsepower and 59 lb-ft. of torque for a total of 650 horsepower at 6,500 RPM and 612 lb-ft. from 2,500 to 5,500 RPM.
The BMW X6 M can also be outfitted with the custom-tailored Bi-Tronik 2 V1, which is a software tune for the factory ECU. The Bi-Tronik 2 V1 is designed to incorporate any other modifications that the engine has received and calibrate the engine’s electronics to take full advantage. In contrast, the Bi-Tornik 5 V1 module is a straightforward plug-and-play module that does not take other upgrades into account.
No matter what form of engine tuning is chosen, BMW X6 M owners can opt for a range of lightweight G-Power Hurricane RR forged alloy wheels made from aerospace-grade aluminum alloy. The 11.0 x 23 wheels wear grippy 315/25 ZR23 Michelin high-performance tires and can be given Jet Black, Gun Metal Grey, Stardust Silver, and Diamond Cut, the latter of which can be partially or completely polished. Customers that want to personalize things even further can have a 15-character signature transcribed onto each wheel by G-Power.
The new G-Power Bi-Tronik 5 V1 module and Bi-Tronik 2 V1 software tunes are currently available for the BMW X6 M models along with the range of Hurricane RR wheels. Pricing has not been announced.
