G-Power Supercharged BMW M3 GTS Exposed

Because 450 horsepower just wasn’t enough for the Clubsport enthusiasts.

In 2009 BMW unveiled the M3 GTS; a limited-edition track day superstar. The car was fitted with a host of race oriented chassis, brake, suspension, and engine upgrades to make it a more potent performer on the track. But, although the engine may have been upgraded, it still left some owners wanting more. Those owners came to G-Power, and what they got were 600+ boosted ponies.

The factory BMW M3 GTS boasts a high-revving 4.4-liter V-8 based on the 4.0-liter unit found in the base M3. While power is up by 36 horsepower over the M3, the stock 450 horsepower still doesn’t give the GTS that adrenaline rush that a true Clubsport racer provides. To give the M3 GTS that extra brutality, G-Power teamed up with longtime partner, ASA, to develop a supercharger system based on the “Sport Drive” unit in the BMW M3.

The high-revving 4.4-liter is an ideal engine for taking boost, as both ASA and G-Power were able to create an impressive power output for the BMW M3 with the “Sport Drive” system. ASA’s supercharger systems have seen proven reliability and quality in the fields of racing with Alpina during the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring and various aftermarket BMW models. The supercharger system provides ever greater mid-range torque for the G-Power M3 GTS that was absent from the naturally-aspirated engine and even greater throttle response. G-Power was able to reduce exhaust backpressure with a new lightweight titanium exhaust and 100-cpsi catalytic converters. For customers that are seeking to reduce weight in every way possible, G-Power can install a carbon fiber replacement airbox. All aftermarket components on the G-Power M3 GTS are tuned to achieve maximum performance with a custom ECU tune by engineers.

Packed with forced induction, a new exhaust, airbox, and ECU tune, the G-Power BMW M3 GTS produces an electrifying 635 hp (467 kW) at 7,800 RPM and 465 lb-ft. (630 Nm) of torque at 3,900 RPM; a full 185 hp and 140 lb-ft. more than stock. The added supercharged power helps the G-Power M3 GTS make the 0-62 mph sprint in 4.2 seconds and 0-124 mph 11.9 seconds. Top speed has been tested as being more than 200 mph (323 km/h). At the Hockenheim Circuit the G-Power M3 GTS was tested by Sport Auto and achieved a lap time of just 1:11.8. Let the track day battles begin!

The G-Power Supercharger SK II system is available for the BMW M3 GTS for € 23,500 (+/- 33,600 USD) plus installation.
