The new Defender Concept 17 Widebody from A Kahn Design

Defender Concept 17 Harris Tweed

The off-road fashion statement.

The Land Rover Defender has been one of the best off-road vehicles since it was first introduced in 1947. It’s never quite been the luxury SUV ready to stroll down the boulevard, but Afzal Kahn and his team are looking to change that with the new Widebody Defender Concept 17 Prototype by Kahn Expedition Vehicles. Teaser images of the new Defender Concept 17 were previously featured and now the SUV is finally starting to come together with special Harris Tweed upholstery.

A Kahn Design has used the fashionable Harris Tweed fabric in previous models such as a Range Rover Harris Tweed Edition before to give interiors that extra-special luxurious feel. It’s the only fabric in the world governed by its own Act of Parliament, dictating where, how, and from what material the fabric can be created to maintain the utmost in quality and authenticity.

The special, handmade fabric was used throughout the interior from the seats to the roof lining. Both of the front and rear racing seats are outfitted in black quilted nappa leather with silver contrasting stitching, Harris Tweed inserts, and red seatbelts. Between each of the front seats is a center console arm rest in black nappa leather with grey alcantara and red and silver stitching, which is also applied to the dashboard, instrument binnacle, and door trims. Every little detail, down to the roof lining and sun visors was outfitted with special grey alcantara with red stitching and Harris Tweed inserts. The Defender Concept 17 was also given a slick black piano wood dashboard surround, red Kahn tachometer, red Churchill clock, and machined aluminum pedals.

That same luxurious style carries over to the exterior of the skilled off-roader with its new lightweight wide track kit and stylish upgrades. The wide track kit includes extended wheel wing wheel arches with integrated vents, while Kahn prototype wing blades and mesh side vents add a touch of style. The front of the Land Rover Defender Concept 17 was fitted with a stainless steel grille with embossed Kahn badge, clear light lenses, LED B6 headlights with vented surrounds, and mesh hood vents. The rear of the SUV is finished off with Kahn prototype and oval tailgated badges, and a Chelsea Truck Company spare wheel cover. To achieve that rugged look while retaining that custom-style, the team installed a set of their new 1983 Defender wheels in 18-inch diameters with original center caps.

The new Widebody Land Rover Defender Concept 17 Prototype by A Kahn Design is a brilliant mix of off-road capability and fashion with its unique use of Harris Tweed and custom-designed upgrades. Customers have the ability to design and create their own unique version of the Widebody Defender Concept 17 Prototype with a wide variety of materials and colors. Pricing has not been released.
