Gumpert goes OM NOM NOM at Goodwood.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the biggest automotive events in the world. Over 100,000 automotive fans and enthusiasts gather to see vintage automobiles and the newest super cars and concepts gathered at one, beautiful venue.

One of the most popular events during the Goodwood Festival of Speed is the Sunday Times Super Car Run where new concepts, super cars, and race cars speed through a course in front of an excited crowd.

At this year’s event, a Gumpert Apollo S was set to run around the course to show off its exotic beauty and performance. For those that are unfamiliar with the German super car, the Apollo S is powered by a twin-turbocharged, Audi-sourced 4.2-liter V8 engine with well over 600 horsepower, a top speed over 200 mph, and a 0-60 mph time in under three-seconds.

So where’s the Fail? Well, as the car raced around the track suddenly had a craving for hay. Coming around a corner at approximately 80 mph, the Apollo S lost grip and ran right into the bales of hay. Luckily, neither the driver nor passenger was hurt, but both were in a bit of shock after the accident. To the driver’s credit, the Apollo S is known to be a bit hard to control, but crashing a $200,000+ ultra-rare super-exotic car is a big FAIL that will cost a pretty-penny to fix.
