Introducing the Hamann Hawk Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster

Hamann Motorsports Hawk SLS AMG Roadster

Bird of Prey.

Back in 2010, Hamann Motorsports unveiled a refining program for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG super car. With the introduction of the SLS AMG Roadster, Mercedes said goodbye to the legendary Gullwing doors. Now the German tuner is back with the Hamann Hawk, and showing that the SLS AMG Roadster still has wings.

The first step in showing that the SLS AMG Roadster can still fly was to upgrade the engine. The Hamann Hawk was given a new sports air filter kit and stainless steel exhaust system, and then the ECU was tuned. The result was 636 horsepower and 501 lb-ft. of torque from the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V-8 engine. With the increased power, the Hamann Motorsports tuned SLS is capable of reaching 62 mph in 3.6 seconds and achieving a top speed of 199 mph.

All of the power from the Hamann Hawk is transferred to the road through a set of new wheels and a lowered suspension. Hamann Motorsports chose to install their Unique Forged Anodized forged wheels for their low weight and high strength characteristics. The wheels were installed in a staggered 9J x 21 front and 12.5J x 21 rear fitment and given 245/30 ZR 21 front and 345/25 ZR 21 rear performance tires. The standard suspension was also replaced with four progressively wound springs and height-adjustable dampers that can lower the entire super car by 30 mm.

Even though the Hamann Hawk does not have the Gullwing doors that made the SLS AMG so extraordinary, it still is a head turner with the upgraded body work and matte red paint. Hamann installed wider front and rear fenders that extend the track by 120 mm and 140 mm respectively. Each of the muscular fenders is connected by new side skirts that visually lower the SLS AMG Roadster. At the front, Hamann Motorsports installed a new front apron with air intakes, LED lights, and spoiler to generate downforce. Engine temperatures are regulated thanks to a new checkered flag carbon fiber hood with numerous vents. The rear of the Hamann Hawk features a new apron with diffuser and 90 mm tailpipes, and a checkered carbon fiber spoiler to generate even more downforce.

But the transformation doesn’t end there. Hamann Motorsports refined the entire interior with exclusive upgrades and upholstery. High quality leather, ultra-suede, and stitching can be custom tailored for customers and matched with colored carbon fiber trim on the center console, air vents, and doors. Black anodized foot pedals and an ergonomic sport steering wheel provide the driver with an exciting feel.

The Hamann Hawk is currently available from the German tuner. Pricing for the full package or individual upgrades have not been announced.
