Mansory’s newest BMW X5 Exposed

The German tuner takes on its first BMW – and it won’t be the last.

Outlandish styling and high-performance tuning has always been Mansory’s forté. The German tuning company has produced in-your-face refining packages for Aston Martin, Bentley, Bugatti, Rolls Royce, and after purchasing the refining division from Rinspeed AG, Porsche. But, with the acquisition of the Switzerland-based division, Mansory has decided to go back to their German roots with their latest model, the BMW X5.

The usual extravagant and flamboyant styling that makes a supercar a Mansory has been toned down for the new X5 for the most part. Although the front bumper with LED fog lights appears a bit too audacious, it is functional with large air intakes and an aerodynamic front spoiler. Move past the fascia and you’ll find the rest of the BMW X5 boasts styling that is tasteful (for a Mansory).

The main goal with the Mansory X5 was to make it more muscular, and with many of the bodywork sans front bumper, the program was successful. Up front, Mansory has installed a new lightweight carbon hood with numerous vents that supply the engine with cool air and allude to the power hiding underneath. After the transformation, the X5 is wider by 70 mm up front and 80 mm at the rear due to bulging fenders and bigger wheels. Between the two axles are newly fitted side skirts that flow into the rear fenders. The rear sports two subtle prepeg-autoclave carbon spoilers on the roof and trunk for additional downforce, while a carbon diffuser is integrated into the rear bumper.

The Mansory X5 isn’t just all-show, no go. To back up the bold styling package, the company has developed a number of different performance upgrades for any of the stock engines. The featured performance kit is for the bad-boy X5 M’s 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 and uses a number of components to increase the stock 555 horsepower and 500 lb-ft. of torque stock output. The twin-turbocharged V-8 is equipped with a complete exhaust system including headers and revised engine control unit to boost output to an incredible 670 horsepower and 700 lb-ft. of torque. The added power helps reduce the 0-62 mph acceleration time to just 4.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 186 mph.

Putting those 670 horses to the pavement are new wider alloy wheels and tires. To compliment the exterior styling, Mansory has fitted silver M10 monoblock cast wheels that improve handling. All four of the 23-inch wheels wear new 315/25 R23 tires with added grip. To further enhance the handling and center of gravity of the X5, new sport springs have been installed and lower the ride height by 40 mm at the front and rear. Mansory is currently testing a sports brake system with larger discs and multi-piston calipers to stop the 5,000+ lb. SUV.

Inside is typical Mansory (in a good way). Anything the customer desires from full leather interiors, to personalized floor mats in any color are available and are made by the private upholstery services at Mansory.

Pricing has not been released for the Mansory X5 refining package. Look for this to be the beginning BMW tuning for Mansory, as the company has plans for more packages in the future.
