The Porsche 918 Spyder is Faster than the Porsche 918 Spyder

Porsche 918 Spyder Specifications

The new hybrid supercar bests itself before the competition.

Porsche hasn’t even started deliveries of the new 918 Spyder yet and they’re already improving its performance. The original specifications were already impressive, but the new hybrid hypercar is now even faster thanks to some tweaks from Porsche.

All customers of the Porsche 918 Spyder have the option to check the weight-optimized “Weissach Package” while ordering to obtain maximum performance. With the Weissach Package, the Porsche 918 Spyder is able to accelerate to 62 mph in just 2.6 seconds (0.2 seconds faster), and to 124 mph in only 7.2 seconds (0.5 seconds faster). The 186 mph mark comes in only 19.9 seconds (2.1 seconds faster).

“We have now used all options available to electrify the 918 Spyder, working right up to the last minute to do so,” said Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, Senior Vice President 918 Spyder.

The improvements aren’t just limited to the combined gasoline and electronic hybrid mode; the pure electric driving mode is also faster. The Porsche 918 Spyder is able to accelerate to 62 mph from rest in just 6.2 seconds in pure electric mode – 0.7 seconds faster than before. With the Weissach Package, the pure electric sprint is even quicker as 62 mph comes in only 6.1 seconds.

Porsche didn’t waste any time upgrading the new 918 Spyder and its 887 combined horsepower output from its two electric motors and 4.6-liter V-8 engine. The hybrid hypercar currently holds the official lap record for road vehicles at the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a 6:57 time, breaking the longstanding 7:00-minute barrier.

Maybe Porsche will tune the 918 Spyder again closer to the official release date…
