Porsche Celebrates 60 Years of Clubs with the new 911 Club Coupe

Porsche 911 Club Coupe

It all began with 13.

The first Porsche rolled off the factory line in 1948. It was a memorable moment for the automaker, enthusiasts, and the automotive world alike. Four years after the first car was made, 13 Porsche owners started the first ever Porsche club, the Westfälischer Porsche Club Hohensyburg. Since then, Porsche clubs have formed all over the world compromising of new owners to hardcore enthusiasts seeking knowledge, friendship, and a common bond.

Now, there are 181,000 members that are a part of 640 official clubs in 75 countries around the world. To say that it has grown since the original 13 members is an understatement. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the first club, Porsche Community Management and Porsche Exclusive collaborated to create the Porsche 911 Club Coupe. The commemorative model will be strictly limited to just 13 models, corresponding with the number of founding members.

The new Porsche 911 Club Coupe will be based on the new 911 Carrera S model and wear exclusive exterior, interior, and special engine upgrades. The exterior will wear a coat of Brewster Green paint as homage to the Porsche family color. An optional SportDesign package with ducktail rear spoiler, front spoiler, and painted lower rear apron will adorn the exterior and separate the car from the standard model lineup. Special 20-inch SportTechno wheels painted black are worn in a 9J x 20 ET 51 front and 11.5J x 20 ET 68 rear setup with 245/35 ZR 20 and 305/30 ZR 20 performance tires. The finishing touch on the exterior are “911 Club Coupe” logos on the doors.

In terms of performance, the 911 Club Coupe boasts a host of standard features that make it even more potent than the Carrera S that it is based on. The 3.8-liter flat-six engine benefits from a Carrera S Powerkit that includes a retuned ECU, upgraded camshafts and cylinder heads, new variable resonance intake system with controllable flaps, new center radiator, Sport Chrono Package with dynamic engine mounts, and a new exhaust system with dual tips on either side. Under the hood sits a new titanium engine cover and carbon fiber accents. The result of the Powerkit is an additional 30 horsepower for a total of 430 horsepower and 325 lb-ft. of torque. That’s enough to send the Club Coupe to 62 mph in 4.0 seconds flat. The PASM sports suspension and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake system also come standard and help lower the overall ride height and virtually eliminate brake fade.

As for the interior, Porsche chose an Espresso natural leather interior with contrasting Luxor Beige stitching as a nod to the birthday presents that Ferry Porsche received. Each of the 911 Club Coupe models will feature a brushed aluminum switch trim strip that will be engraved with the name of the customer that the coupe is built for. Greeting both driver and passenger are two Brewster Green painted illuminated door entry sills in brushed aluminum with “911 Club Coupe” being shown in light and “60 Years of Porsche Clubs” appearing in the dark. Other standard features include a Sport Design steering wheel, leather key pouch with embossed “911 Club Coupe” designation, personalized floor mats, and a photo album with Espresso leather cover.

Only 12 of the Porsche 911 Club Coupe models will be available to the public with one being kept by Porsche for their museum. The commemorative model is currently on display at the Porsche Museum in Zuffenhausen until August 26th. The models will be available for $175,580/142,831 EUR.
